Sounds frustrating. To go to a dealership, you just have to be prepared to waste half a day and leave empty handed. It's better than overpaying by several thousand dollars.

My recent Tacoma purchase was one of the easiest vehicle purchases I've ever made. I was given a trade-in figure back in March on a 2019 non-Toyota truck. I signed a piece of paper stating the trade-in might not be worth that stated amount upon arrival of my new Tacoma. I requested a TRD Sport premium w/ advanced technology package. No mark-ups from this dealership. We settled on a price and I signed my initials and paid a $1K deposit for them to begin searching. Fast forward five months later and my new Tacoma arrived. The dealership gave me the original amount quoted for the 2019 truck and along with my equity from the other vehicle, I got into my Tacoma for $300 difference of what I paid in 2019! Unbelievable! My monthly payment went up $30 only because the Feds increased the interest rate a couple of times this year. Who else can say they drove a brand new truck for three years for only $300?

Big mistake letting them run your credit without knowing the OTD price. Who cares what the monthly payments are? You need a final price to calculate all that, not before.

This channel has lots of quality advice.

you should be fine even if they pulled your credit since your truck should arrive before the 45 days (hopefully even sooner). Usually multiple inquiries for auto loans are consolidated into one if they are in a short period of time. (being 15-45 days depending on the scoring system used).

In times like these I prefer the chocolate covered pretzel method.

About three weeks ago I got an email from my local Toyota dealership telling me that Tacoma's are now priced $1K below MSRP. And yesterday, as my wife and I drove past that dealership I saw several sitting on the lot. The days of heavy markup is over.

"upcoming market shift" some of you have been saying this for the last 15 months. This is the new market until you start seeing new inventory at every Toyota dealership

The market adjustment on my truck was $6,995 back in January. It was one of 2 new Tacomas on the lot, I got there right when they opened and 3 more people came in to try to test drive it while I was holding the keys. Needless to say there was no wiggle room.

I'm not a fan of dealerships either. Are you a Costco member? We used the Costco Auto buying program to buy our 2022 TRD ORDC in Lunar Rock. It was invoice pricing (about $2500 under MSRP) and no markup. Select dealerships are included and select models. Our truck is in town now and we pick it up on Wed.

Generally all loan inquiries within a 45 day window are lumped in together as a single hard pull of your credit for scoring purposes. If you plan to finance it will have little effect. If you have good credit already it will also have little to no effect.

That’s also the standard Fairbanks markup and customer service attitude. What are you going to do, go to the dealership in the next town over? Haha.
