It is easy to have missed the fact it was a 68 Vette.

Electrical sending unit put it in the head and be done.

Things vanish no matter if your working in a level 5 lab.

I just gave up on the trying to clean I really think dimensions change things vanish then reappear.

Probably the best solution is to get a sensor that fits the hole in the cylinder head, putting the sensor in the manifold or water outlet won't give a very accurate reading.

Hours later... I fell in the rabbit hole with this one. :bananadead:

1968 (and up until the late 70's at least) calls for a Standard Motor Products TS6 with 1/2" threads
    368 Ohms @ 100F and 80 Ohms @ 220F.

You must have a later/aftermarket heads that uses a 3/8" sensor which is readily available -- However...
All the 3/8" sensors have the wrong resistance so the gauge won't read correctly, it will read way too cold under all circumstances.

The best solution seems to be turn the TS6 sensor down and re-thread it to the 3/8" required.

That job will require the services of a machine shop....
Unless you happen to have access to a lathe...:boink:
    .
    .
    .
    :D:D:D

There looks to be adequate material to turn it down.

    Down the rabbit hole:rofl:
Thank you for that homework Rusty, very kind of you sir. I ended up ordering a thermostat housing that the factory sensor will fit into. And yes these are aftermarket aluminum heads installed. I had no idea that it would be a smaller than any other old school chevy. That's very neat you have the knowledge to look that up and researching resistance and such. I understand it but wouldn't have thought of that.
I got little more than the shop straighten up and started to feel like in a broiler. That steel pole shed get toasty in there even with a fan blowing.
Tomorrow is 26° cooler than today so I'll get more done.
I think going into the top of thermostat housing should be sufficient providing my thermostat doesn't seize shut:bananadead: at least after it's at operating temperature. I may just buy another sensor and see if I can find someone to modify it for me:D

This afternoon I got new front door speakers installed in the new to me Malibu. There was absolutely no sound coming from either speaker. It seem odd to me that both would go completely out but that was indeed the problem. It sounds much better now.
    Thanks again for your help!

I'm a specification excavator, things like that were all in a days work at the old job - both a blessing and a curse depending on the day.

The top pipe on heater core I plan to run on suction port of the water pump ( this pump has a suction on top and the side, I plan on pulling off the side). Then the bottom pipe on heater core will circulate out of the intake manifold ( a port on the front of it, manifold has three options, 2 top on either side of thermostat and one on front).
No plugs on the back on this one.
I think so far this is the way to go, but suggestions are always welcome. When I get it plumbed tomorrow I'll post a picture.
Other news; UPS messed up, the new guy loading trucks didn't get my pipe expander for the exhaust loaded so now I wait until Monday for that.

Don’t know that I’ve ever seen a step side truck of this era that was a GMC.

    Goodmorning crew :pccoffee:

Cousin is coming over today for more Corvette fun. I also happened to find some tires for his newly acquired Dodge Ram so he's bringing the worst looking 2 out of the 4 and going to put these on the front. I think these tires are going to eliminate the shake...at least from the front end.
They're slightly smaller diameter than OE but price was right.

At least it's giving you notice.
Whenever starter going out is mentioned it brings back memory. Uncle Jim and I stop at the South China buffet for lunch (19th Ave & Northern in Phx AZ). We'll we were sure to get our money's worth on that buffet stuffed ourselves like a couple of dummies at eating contest. Anyways, go out to his old Dodge Maxi Van and nothing. Couple of overfill fat men roll around on hot asphalt in the parking lot.
I called that van the maxi pad van. It was red in color.
