That pinch is tough for a full size. Would need to stay high on the left if you are going up hill.

Quick update from the Friends of Fordyce facebook page.

Fordyce water flow update for Sept 8, 2022:
    from PG&E hydro:
    -----
I’ve investigated and learned plans did change; I’m informed that flows will not be increased this weekend. I’m told that it is currently planned to do a 4-day release increasing the flows to 400cfs the weekend after next (Friday Sept. 16 – Monday Sept. 19). I’ve asked for further forecasting but this is the breadth of information I have at this time.
    -----
Additional note from Forest Service: given the fire conditions in the TNF, it is absolutely essential that there be NO fires in/along the trail. Zero. Please don't be 'that guy'. If you see someone starting /having a campfire, please get them to extinguish it immediately.

Did Sourgrass trail over the weekend. I made the mistake of trying to follow my buddy's line and high-centered on the first obstacle. Once I got it through my thick head that I wasn't driving a Jeep on 37's things went much more smoothly. I unfortunately didn't it make it cleanly up out of the creek and needed a short winch, but think I would have had a better shot if someone had been giving me a decent spot. Good times!

Did it last year in the opposite direction. It was tight but not ridiculous in the taco. It would probably be ridiculously tight in a full size but apparently doable! That’s the tightest spot on the trail as far as I can recall.

Ugh. It looked like CalFire wasn't involved in fighting this one when I checked their website yesterday. Are they on it now?

It says they're involved but not who's in charge.

Unified Command: CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit, USFS Tahoe National Forest, Foresthill Fire Protection District, and Placer County Sheriff’s Office

Usually, it names the agency. But good to know.

Even if it's in a national park and the agency listed is the park service. If Cal fire has got an incident management team on it, they're really running the show. Fucking guys are damn good at what they do. It's going to be a challenging decade for them for sure

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

    That someone else was us:thumbsup:

Spent 3 hours welding dude's steering knuckle together, then 2 of our dudes escorted him back to the dam, where the Sheriff's were setting up search and rescue. The shut down Dusy/Ershim in prep to look for him. Then he came out between 2 of our rigs that had just spent the night to hang out with us at Voyager, before we headed out.

The search and rescue chopper had buzzed us and was flying low over the lake, when we were getting them ready to head out. We didn't know for sure if they were looking for him till one of our guys radio'd back to tell us the Sherriff was setting up a search party at Courtright Dam. Where that guy (Sam) had his tow rig parked.

We made it off the trail safe.

Words of wisdom. If you're going to do Dusy you'd better bring a bad assed lunch pail. That thing is work. She demands payment from all who enter.

We were there 5 days. Me and one other member of our other group made it till today without issue... the others suffered from broken leaf springs, fuel spark issues, circuit breaker issues. One of our guys layed his rig over.

I was thinking I was good... till about 4 miles till the end... Dusy said "It's your turn bitch"... broke a CV... then at the top of the gatekeeper going out Kaiser side, I broke another CV, popped a bead, and almost layed my truck over.

The other guy... on the way home, the wind sucked his $500 prescription sunglasses off his dashboard... She had to be paid.

Anyway... you'd better watch the videos

Did you do that with your weld kit you put together? It made it out so I’m impressed.

It was done with my kit as well as a Bun welder one of our other guys had. The bun wasn't working well, so we used the stick.

I didn't weld that. We had two guys who make a living doing that shit, so I stayed out of the way, and let them go to work.
