2022 TRD PRO + Redarc knob controller = It doesn't go "there"... (Did you put it in the center?)

Getting ready to install my TRD PRO's Redarc and I'm watching the video about installing the knob in the blank by the headlight switches... however, my TRD PRO doesn't have any usable blanks! They're all filled up. There *is* a blank below the radio.

Anyone have any insight as to using this area? Instructions? I can probably "wing it" but I'd love to hear from the folks here who are far longer owners than I am! I've only 1000 miles on mine!

    Thanks!
    Pete

I put mine there. It took a bit of fishing to get the wire there, but I wanted it to be visible, not hidden behind the steering wheel.

Can you tell me the method you used?

    Did you do this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scVqYGBl25Y

Or something different? I wonder if I can fish the wire without removing anything if I pop that blank off with the knife method (or is there a better method)

    Thanks

I popped off the blank, stuck a piece of wire through it to under the steering wheel, then pulled the wire over to it.

Boom! That's what I was hoping to hear! THANK YOU!!!

Those videos with people ripping their whole truck apart seemed VERY silly to a fella like me!

    Thanks again!

Don’t get me wrong, it was not an easy task, but in no way would I have torn the truck apart to put it there.

I understand! I've snaked wire in the depths of hell... so I get it. LOL. Anything is better than tearing the truck apart like that!

Update. To anyone that needs to install a Redarc on a TRD PRO. Forget all the "rip your dash apart" videos. Forget the "take out the radio" ... it's 1000x easier.

    1) Follow the video here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKsQQK-oqjc&t=2s

That will get you to the part where you have the brains of the unit mounted.

    Then, "Pete's Method".

Get a glue stick and a spark plug feeler gauge. Melt the glue stick a little and stick to the blank below the climate control where you want the Redarc control to go. Then, you may still need a little "pry" action but you don't want to ruin the dash because you're anal like me. So put away the screw driver. Go get your feel gauge set. (wide, thin and flexes before it ruins your dash!)... If the glue stick comes off the first time, you'll need the feeler. Use the glue stick and feeler together. The blank comes off easy.

Next, get a piece of 14ga solid copper wire. You'll use this is as a snake. Go in through the blank hole you just opened and "guide" the copper toward the lower left (sort of aiming or the gas pedal... maybe a touch higher). You'll see your copper wire come out by the pedal.

Guess what? You're done! The rest is easy. Just tape the cable that goes to the Redarc control nicely and bring it to the blank hole. Plug it in and follow that video for the rest.

I'm in the middle of doing it, since I'm waiting on USPS to bring me my controller. But truck is apart and it took maybe 30 minutes and that was with me taking my time and pausing that video.

I love this truck. I really really really love this truck. Toyota quality is like no other. I'm looking at the harnesses, the cabling, everything. VERY high quality.

    Thanks for a great forum!

    Pete

This is almost exactly how I did mine, except I screwed a drywall screw into the blank and pulled.

All done! Honestly, if it wasn't 102 degrees in the hot South Florida sun. I would have bee super easy. I'll give it "easy" for a rating.

    Hope my ranting helped someone!
