It was a blast till the KTM died and we needed to do a buddy tow back to his car. For those who have never towed a motorcycle with another motorcycle there is a large learning curve. First time we used my strap my buddy towed me, this was my first time towing someone else. Trying to not get the strap wrapped in the back tire of the person towing or not pulling the person being towed into a tree or quickly twisting their bars and dragging them to the ground is... difficult.

He was running an acerbis vsl headlight on a xc-f that didn’t come with any lights. Between his aftermarket headlight, tail light, fan and injectors it completely depleted his battery. Stator couldn’t keep up. If you get any street legal model you won’t have any issues like these lol. Going from the drz to the husky was a night and day difference in performance and weight.

Did you guys try to push start it? Sucky way to end the night but it could have been worse.

I remember when the stator crapped out on my KTM 450exc I was riding in a not so nice place where people have had their dirtbikes stolen about 5 miles away from my truck and I was all by myself. Ditched it in the woods and started hiking (Hiking in dirtbike boots sucks!). Ended up finding 2 guys with a baby and pit bull at a campsite and they tried to pull start me with a rope behind their truck. After the bike dumped over twice in the process we loaded it up in there truck and they drove me out. I will never forget riding in the bed of the truck while the two guys lit up a joint with the baby between the two of them on the bench seat.

it crossed our mind but he’s got a rekluse and he would need to fuck with his settings to bump start it. We figured it was easier to tow with how close we were to his car. If shit really hit the fan in the thick shit I would have just told him to take my bike back to his car to grab his jump pack lol

Thanks for coming out @BkerChuck , had a great day!

Went for a short ride… first time on the motorcycle since the crash 4.5 months ago. Feels so good to be back on two wheels!

I got lucky today re: NOT getting a ticket. Took Skyline Drive to 211, went up and down the mountain a couple of times, and then headed back. Naturally, after having my way with the mountain (not really, but I was well above the speed limit), I was feeling frisky. Speed limit on Skyline is 35, which is totally ridiculous and maddening if you have to actually go that slow. I had passed a park ranger a few miles earlier so figured it would be clear the rest of the way. Came out of a turn at 50+ and here comes another ranger! One second goes by, long enough that I had just thought he might not have his radar on, and the whole front of his SUV lights up. Unreal level of flashing/blinking going on. I waved to acknowledge I knew I was going too fast and got ready to pull over. Checked my mirror and he just kept on going. Whew! Said a prayer of thanks!

Supposed to rain all tonight and tomorrow so prepping the bike to put new oil in the forks, clean the air filter, and check the plugs...

Or maybe not. Just found out I need a freaking 19mm allen key to remove the front axle. Just when I thought Yamahas made more sense than Hondas. Who comes up with this stuff? Why not a 19mm bolt head? ReAsoNs...:rofl:

They make a special axle socket with 4 sizes all on one tool. Get one of those and you're golden. Roughly $20 if I recall.

Happy to hang out with you for a few hours! Stopped on my way home in Oaks to get a pic of that old steam locomotive for Team Strange tour. Got home and had an email from the Iron Butt Association telling me our Lighthouse Challenge ride is verified and requesting some additional info to create our certificate.

Good day for both of us.
