Can the navigation system be added after the 2022 truck has left the factory?

Anything can if you throw enough money at it. The issue is that it's going to take a prohibitive amount of money to do so.

    So... Technically yes, practically no.

Does it have CarPlay? Then you have Google maps.

I thought they all had navigation. You just need your phone for it to work.

    Oh look, another mod....
No. That's the short answer. The software and GPS antenna aren't included with all trucks.

They do not, but it's very misleading because the JBL radios have a "Nav" button, but it isn't available for all Tacomas.

Factory nav is garbage. I've used it zero times in two years. Just use android auto or apple carplay and the nav app of your choice.

Disagree, it’s helpful in areas with limited service. The new map chip helps

My factory nav works fine and the screen is much bigger then trying to look at my phone.

With Android auto you don't have to look at your phone. It puts navigation on your radio screen

With google maps, you can download maps to your phone and still be able to navigate w/out a cell connection. Done it many times. Getting map updates from the dealer is very expensive if they even know it can be done. Google maps on the head unit (via android auto or carplay) is all you need.

My factory nav works fine also. I have the dynamic nav that came with the advanced tech package. Map on the main screen, turn map in the instrument cluster, and voice prompts. Voice commands to find POIs always find what I'm looking for. About the only real negative is the voice prompts don't cut out the radio completely, but that's minor. I can still hear it.

I miss the nav in my cluster and the speed limit in there also. Couldn’t get advanced tech on my 2022 and I miss those features.
