I guess I commented too soon. Looks like these are sold out. Anybody purchased one from XiPoo?

 

My feedback after using it, I don't regret doing the install, it's definitely better than the OEM Qi charging pad, but it's not exactly incredible either. It's pretty finicky with placement of the phone and the light, while informative, ends up being a bit distracting (is the phone properly charging?) when it would be nice if we could just toss the damn phone in the spot and have it all "work".

So, I wouldn't really say this is a home run yet. I know wireless charging pads are finicky beasts but I do wish there were some more help with self centering, perhaps by a series of steps in the tray or something, dunno, hard to have things work properly for all sizes of phones.

Just my 2 cents.

 

I’m hesitant to get this. It appears that replacing the charger in the original assembly would be the cleanest and most “OEM” swap. Not sure if anybody has successfully done it or tried to do it. Eliminating the switch would make sense as well.

 

Don't get me wrong though, I don't regret doing it. The Qi pad is garbage and this one is better. There's no debating that point. It's just not yet perfect. Fit and finish are darn good though and charging power is better.

 

I'd like to get this, just wish the top was fully rubberized like the OEM one. I throw keys and stuff down there sometimes and don't need any more rattles. Still, highly considering it since the OEM one is actually worthless.

Thank you. Finally got around to installing the XiPoo yesterday. Works as described on my iPhone 13 Pro. The stock QI would not charge it while in the case.

 

How’s the fit and finish for this compared to OEM? Mine charges, but damn slow. Won’t keep up with gps use.

 

personally, I think it fits well and looks great. The new charger does not have a clip in the center back as does the OEM, so it’s slightly less rigid. The mat is also slightly less non-slip, but doesn’t seem to be a problem with my case. It is also more black versus gray.

 

Have you seen any guides to connect the button? I was surprised to see like 7 wires connected to the stock one

 

You’re talking about the qi push button switch? I haven’t identified a wire to wire male connector. Only wire to board. Also, it’s a piece of junk. No point to it at all really.

 

Yeah, I just pushed the button back into the abyss. Needed the space for an Anytime Backup Camera switch anyways

Motorola MA1 - has been flawless for me. It is more expensive I think but you get what you pay for. It is for Android Auto only. About 90$ on Amazon.

 

You can swap the top portions of the OEM and aftermarket one. Some of the aftermarket screws are larger so I used the OEM screws for the four main screws that hold it together and the two after market screws on the two in the back.

 

This thread has some schematics and plug part numbers. The service manually also has an informative section. I ended up using a small

$11 Directed Electronics 8616 Relay Assembly Mini

relay to control the acc pin off of the switch pin and used portions of the aftermarket harness to keep the additional fuse and two pin connector. I didn't attempt to duplicate any of the smart key logic and only needed pins 1,3, and 5. Stole the harness clip from the OEM charger and the fuse and connector stacked nicely.

 

Oh man, you are talking over my head with this lol I appreciate the effort, but I ended up just hiding the button behind the dash. I'd like to control it like OEM, but I don't think I can do that without more pictures of the wiring

 

Do you have any more info on what you did? Essentially you wired the button into to the aftermarket charger? Why?

Sometimes charging overheats the phone and it will disconnect AA and bluetooth when this happens. I was hoping the "better" charger wouldn't cause this, or cause it less frequently than factory, but it appears this is not the case (for my phone/case setup at least). I wanted to be able to turn the charger on and off like factory in the event I didn't need to charge the phone or I was storing metal items in the charging area.

As far as what I did, I added a 12v relay and used the factory switch to control the relay. The linked thread has all the details for doing this, I don't want to provide a step by step for people that don't understand the risks or the how/why of how this works.

I'm halfway tempted to put the factory charger back in and just plug in my phone for longer trips. I don't like how slick the aftermarket plastic is and I don't like how intrusive the charging light is.

 

Anybody have a line on one of the aftermarket chargers?

Been looking for a little bit now to replace my bubbling OEM and not really having any luck. Looks like most are just out of stock.
