Thankfully I had a good experience. I told them what I wanted , they brought it up for a test drive , they gave me a decent price ony trade in , we went to the bank and transferred the difference in funds and we came home. Not bad at all. Most of the time at the dealership was spent trying to teach an old man how the technology worked.

None to speak of, just enjoying it for the moment.
My best experience with a dealership buying a new car was with Mazda. I did a day of test driving (it was an SUV for my wife) we visited four dealerships and test drove vehicles at each one, then went home talked it over and finalized our decision. I began negotiating via email and four days later had agreed on a deal. I brought a cashier's check for the amount and literally 35 minutes later we drove our new car off the lot, 20 minutes of that was spent in the new car teaching my wife the tech. I'm afraid it will never be as easy as that again!

    Oh look, another mod....
I wanted to share my very own "Horrible" dealership experience.

It happened yesterday, Saturday, Sept 10th...a day that will live, in infamy....

I took my Tacoma in for the last free Toyota Care service to my local dealership. The 25k mile service was due. I drove into the service bay, they took the truck from me to start the service and I opt'd to wait in the lobby. Then, it all went down hill.....

Normally they have 12 different type's of muffins, and they always have blueberry. But that day...there were only 8 flavors, and NO blueberry! Don't they know how important I think I am? :) I had to settle on one of the other many delicious (and free) muffins.

I'm still in shock and currently drafting a letter to Toyota Corporate because of how I was mistreated! I demand reparations.

I wish they spent more time with me being old also, but they seemed more focus on selling me an extended warranty which i refused, and refused again, even after they discounted the contact a few hondo's. Otherwise all went well.

It is something I have studied for a long time. Humans are funny. If you get bored one day, shoot me a p.m.

The best explanation and demonstration I have found does have political statements in it. I will not post it unless asked in a p.m.

I did send it to tacoglenn with the caveat to delete it if bothered at all.

I live in Charlotte and bought a truck 1 year ago. I called a lot of dealers and had mixed experiences. There were good dealers in this area at that time. Hendricks, Gastonia, a few others and even Scott Clark treated me well and were responsive. I ended up at Scott Clark, they removed all port-added options and even stuck to our negotiated deal when the truck came in with the navigation and parking package that was not on the allocation sheet and sales agreement.

Everyone I talked to was doing MSRP. Things can change in a year though. PM me if you want any sales contacts for the people I talked to.

This could have potentially been covered already in the five pages since you posted, which I won’t have time to read, but I wonder what “sheet” you were sent on the MGM if it didn’t show the market adjustment. The adjustment should come as no surprise, except for the fact that it apparently wasn’t disclosed in information you were emailed. So I find that strange. I also think it’s bad business to run someone’s credit before you actually disclose the bottom line price out the door.

For what it’s worth, I bought my truck from the same dealership several years ago, and I had a great experience. The salesman emailed me the price sheet ahead of time because it was a five hour drive for me. When I got there, I negotiated a tiny bit, and improved the deal, but there were no surprises and the salesman was as transparent as a window. Sorry to hear you didn’t have a good experience. If you shop around widely enough you should be able to find a dealer not charging the adjustment, but you may not find the precise truck you’re looking for.

When I talked to Scott Clark they had a $2500 addendum but I don't know if they will negotiate it.

Hickory Toyota has a used Tacoma on their website I wanted. They ran my credit.
Said I was financed. But someone else just came in and bought the Tacoma. Come
to fine out. The Tacoma was just on their website to lure you into thinking they had it.
Instead they said give us $500 so we can reserve a new truck for you. To hell with that.
So talking with other people and doing my research. That seems to be the new trick with
stealerhips. They falsely advertise having a vehicle just to get you there.

    Such bullshit. :quickdraw:

That's called bait and switch. It's illegal. File a complaint with the your state's Attorney General and reference the ad.

Only illegal if the truck never existed - if it did exist and was sold before someone else got there, that's not bait and switch.

Correct. I was assuming from the statement "Come to fine out. The Tacoma was just on their website to lure you into thinking they had it." that it never actually existed.

They may have had the Tacoma at one time. But they definitely kept it up for awhile after it sold.
A week later when they called back asking if I was ready to buy a new one. I said how bout you take
down the add with the used the Tacoma that is no longer there. After that call it was finally taken down.

I also tried dealing with them and got a bad feeling. In trying to get them to find the spec I wanted they constantly suggested other models or even used trucks on the lot, very frustrating. Additionally when they did have something close to what I wanted, they insisted I had to come down to the store they can’t talk pricing over the phone. Lol nope

All of the dealers in this area that I spoke with have an addendum. It's some combination of Tint, floor mats, pinstripes, nitrogen tire fill, and warranty. most dealers are in the $700-$900 range. Scott Clark is the worst at $2500. It's negotiable and I got that way down, in this market it's the only thing that's negotiable. Ultimately they had a truck with what I wanted and removed all of the extra junk I didn't want so the numbers worked out in my favor.

To be clear I don't really like any dealers and it wasn't the best car buying experience I have had. SC still felt "slimy" to me and the addendum is WAY out of line. But they are around the corner from my house, I took a shot and walked in off the street, in-person probably made a difference.

Last time I brought truckito into the dealership (for the leaking brake light recall maybe), the shuttle van to work was a shit show. Two elderly couples and one old Greek man, and a 25 year old smartass all descend on the Sienna van. Elderly couple number one uses a cane, mobility is an issue. Naturally they get into the second row of the van first, a five-minute production that requires a step stool and the driver's assistance. They got into the second row and only half of couple number two made it into the third row beforehand. Keep in mind I grabbed shotgun when we got there, so I'm just hearing/watching this lack-of-clue fest go down as now the other half of couple number two and Mr. Greek are now waving their arms and fretting about how are they supposed to get in? Couple number one isn't gonna get out. The shuttle driver disappeared back into the dealership, presumably not wanting anything to do with refereeing this. After about five minutes I had it. Tossed off my seatbelt, got out and walked to work in the steamy Virginia summer heat. Next time I'll get a ride or something.

So yeah OP, I definitely know how you feel. Oh by the way, you need to give express consent for them to run your credit. Unless you remember doing that... They didn't run your credit.
