What did you use to get 1” front? I hear bad things about preload spacers but too plate spacers seem to lift 1/2” but I’m looking for between 1/2”-1”

Hey @Black Bean Taco I have OME 883's installed in the front. They settled to right at about 1" lift. Prior to the 883's I had Bilstein 5100's set at the first 'notch' (.85") with stock coils and its hard to tell a difference in ride quality TBH.

I apologize for reviving this thread! Sorry guys!
But with so many people using or who have used 265/70r17 and 265/75r16, maybe you guys could tell me how fast acceleration is with this tire size? Any loss of power due to the tire size? Did the truck ever hesitate to move when the pedal was put to the floor? All the information I have found is very confusing. Some say yes, others say no.

might not be noticeable, it isnt considered a large tire relative to enthusiasts, negates

that said, my truck came w 265 70 16 and they roll worse than my old 255 75 17 on my 4th gen 4runner. because of added width

It's pretty negligible. I think I noticed more difference from adding a camper shell and sleeping platform than from stock to 265/75/16 AT's. I think even 33s are pretty reasonable and you don't really notice as big a hit until 34s and up. That being said its just a truck, can't expect sports car performance. I have no complaints with acceleration, I get more annoyed with needing to downshift on highway with slight up grades or the gas mileage decline above ~70/75mph in general.

That is what confuses me the most. Some people say they notice it, others say they don't. I wonder if it has to do with the type of engine everyone has in their truck? I have a 2015 V6 prerunner.

Yes, I agree with you! Driving with 285s on the expressway is horrible. The same goes for 265/70s or 75s? In years I have never experienced a problem with my tires while living in Fl, but now that I have moved to TX in the Sugarland, Houston area. To make a right turn you have to dart out in front of traffic coming at 55 mph or more. That's where I feel most of the problem with having these tires and trouble accelerating quickly. I'm thinking about going down in tire size.

I was never impressed with the highway performance on hills even stock I feel like, but it does get worse with added weight/tire rolling resistance/worse aerodynamics. Never had an issue pulling into traffic though, I have to do that leaving work every day (flat ground 50-60mph) and if I'm shooting a smaller gap I just have to put the pedal down harder haha. At WOT I don't really have any complaints unless I'm towing.

Yes, at least you have an idea of what it's like to drive in an urban area. It's a fight! A lot of people give advice based on their personal experiences, but the vast majority of them live in more rural areas. It happens a lot with the guys who have uncooled 33 tires. They tell you; my truck accelerates fine, yeah ok, but under what circumstances? Do you have to accelerate to pass a herd of flying vehicles, to get off at an expressway exit? What tires do you have now?

Yeah mines not too crazy but sometimes leaving work during the busy afternoons you have to just shoot a gap or you'll be waiting forever haha. I'm on 265/75/16 falken rubitrek's on FN countersteer type X. Had wildpeaks before that which I liked the look of better but got a great deal on the rubitreks this time around. I think keeping the tires not LT/E load unless you truly need it (a lot heavier) and picking wheels that are on the lighter side is helpful too.

Duratrac 265 75 R16's. Billy 6112/5160 setup on the 3rd perch. I also have an add-a-leaf in the back to help with the canopy weight

My money is on people going with load range C vs load range E tires. Duratracs 265 75 R16's come in Load C, whereas KO2's of the same size only come in Load E. There's a pretty significant weight difference between the two, especially when considering rotational wheel inertia & unsprung weight.

I've had both tires, IMO Load C's run great on a Taco whereas Load E's tend to be pretty stiff and can bog down your motor, especially if you have other crap on your truck like armor, winch, camper shell, etc

depends on the tire. BFG’s are heavy. 4plys are lighter.
