I bought my Tacoma new on March 27th, 2002. It was my daily driver until a few years ago when I changed jobs and started doing a lot of business miles and purchased a more economical and conventional highway driver for weekdays. My wife was recently in a minor auto accident and her car is subsequently in the shop so I'm driving the Taco again while she drives my 'work car'. At a few months past our 20th anniversary and it once again, even if temporarily, being my daily driver I'm having a Tacoma renaissance and loving it! So, yesterday I decided to give it a very thorough cleaning, inside and out. It currently sits at just under 235k miles.

This truck and I have been through a lot together, naturally, since I've owned it for nearly half of my life. Close up it has tons of scratches, dings, and chips but from a short distance it still looks great! As I'm sure many of you experience as well, I love how often random people comment about it, and even ask if I'd be interested in selling it. I always tell them they could offer to trade a brand new Tacoma even up and I'd pass. I tell people I'm keeping this truck until one of us dies, and my money says the truck will outlive me.

    Cheers Tacoma enthusiast!

I had the same truck pickup on may 5th 2002. She has never been on a hook and never left me stranded. We have been cross country both ways and She lasted 313,000 miles and I have to sadly
Part her out due to rusted body. Enjoy yours for as long as you can. The rust belt out east is unforgiving.

That's always been a fear and something I keep an eye on. I bought it when I lived in MA, lived in TN for close to a decade, and now IN. I check the frame annually, never leave it parked outside, and always get the undercarriage cleaned after snow and the bad road shit that comes with it.

I got mine last year when I was 15 and I'm almost 17 now.. 0 issues and nothing but fun. I really hope to keep it as long as you've kept yours!

Outstanding! May I ask how many miles it's accumulated? That truck looks amazing.

Just passed 200K. Original clutch, everything is still stock spec, everything works. It’s like a time capsule.

I bought my Tacoma March 1st 2000 and it's still my daily. I've had it longer than I've been married, plus my kids have grown up with it. Even when I do get myself a newer car, I don't think i could ever get rid of it.

Damn you're one lucky 15 year old. I started out on a piece of crap 88' Honda Civic DX. Can't really complain since we made many memories with that car in high school.

All kinds 3 inch body lift/2 1/2 suspension lift. 31/11 1/2/15 tires All work done by myself for years. The only work performed by mechanic was fuel pumps. I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
MINE is almost 25yrs for me and 287k. The best thing in your case is you can sell it for almost as much as you bought it for. Mine is destroyed inside, but looks good outside. We all win with Toyota with no car payments for much of our lives. That's a ton of money saved

I really like the raised white lettering you keep on the tires. Makes it look aged classy.

My interior was pretty bad also, I found some leather 4runner seats and switched out the carpet with vinyl. It made all the difference.
