Yes. As it stands now, in 2035, CA won’t allow the sale of new gas vehicles in the state. Now I’m sure you could probably go out of state and buy one but there’ll probably be a hefty tax

Or the law won't allow CA residents to buy out of state and import them either.

What if it’s something as simple as being able to buy whatever it is someone wants to buy rather than being forced to buy something they don’t want? I don’t know about you, but I like freedom in being able to make my own choices. It appears that you do not.

‘Merica! Land of the Free! Errrr….wait a minute, more like Land of the Over-Regulated.

Of course would love to buy a brand new Toyota LC70 diesel in the US, but can’t…

You can choose to own an older vehicle. This really isn't a state by state thing, the entire market is changing.

My point is there won't be any new 2036 petrol cars offered for sale anywhere bro

like nowhere in the EU or Canada or the US

Now we're getting somewhere, 11 pages of good, honest, debate and replies...

I watched a vid today that closely examined the electrical components and undercarriage of a new Ford Lightning. It had more nooks and crannies than a Thomas's English Muffin. When they get loaded with New York winter road salt, slush and sand I can't wait to see how that impacts reliability. There's always the undercarriage wash right, well maybe...

We shall see what lies ahead. I'll probably not live long enough to ever own an electric car.

Most likely true. But Texas and the gulf states will fight it like hell.

that will be irrelevant when there are no vehicle manufacturers offering them

I tend to keep my vehicles for a while, last truck was 20 years. Not sure I’ll go that long with this new one. Thinking in 10-15 years EV tech will improve greatly. Looking forward to it, but perfectly content with gassers for now.

As for salt, slush and whatnot. Underwater ROVs are electric, talking with my marine biologist buddy’s, they are fairly rock solid for reliability. Doubtful land vehicles will be sealed as well, as they say time will tell.

Those ROV's are purpose built for the environment they are designed to operate in. Automotive vehicles are not. Look at the track record for vehicles in the NE, I don't believe it to be so good.

The Toyota EV pickup will have frame rot just like the Tacoma does now.
