Slow day. Spent some time online trying to help daughter with buying a new RAV4. Have exhausted looking for a used 2-3 year old one. Can buy new for what used ones are selling for. No surprise at that.
Neighbor was rear ended by a Tundra in his 2020 Off Road at roughly 40 mph. No damage to the Tundra. Both drivers drove home. The Tacoma has $16k in damage but adjuster made it a total loss because of the frame damage. Paid $38k new. Insurance gave him $48k. I was sitting at a stop light a few years ago in my first 2008 Prerunner. Kid rear ended me running 25. Never touched his brakes. Took 2 hours to pick up the parts and pieces of his car. Took me 30 minutes to polish his paint off my chrome rear bumper. No other damage. Ask me why I sold my 3rd gen to go back to a 2nd gen. Nuff said.
Been dying to install my 3rd gen Off Road springs, struts and lean spacer. Wife is still wheelchair bound with a nasty broken ankle, and I can't leave her stuck inside for hours, so I did it virtually. Looks good.

This pic I lifted up the truck and left the front tire in place. Love MS PAINT.

Thanks. The color is growing on me. Had a Blazing Blue Pearl 3rd gen. Loved that color but wanted my next 2nd gen to be anything but blue. I bought a 2012 Pyrite Mica with 150k miles last year, in excellent condition, and loved the color. Had put a new headlight, Clazzios, Kickers, floor liners, tool box, 17 inch 4runner wheels, new 4runner spare tire and wheel, interior LED's and running boards on the 2012 already. Changed the front brakes, belt, air and cabin filters, plugs, PCV, flushed engine and radiator coolant, changed differential fluid, cleaned MAF, new hoses, new radiator cap and had the 2020 4runner tpms programmed to the truck. Then 30 days after buying the 2012 I found this blue 2008 with 83k miles. The price was too good to pass up. Brought the 2008 home and told my wife I would sell it to my son. Made the mistake of letting him drive both trucks and decide which one he wanted. The as***** wanted the Pyrite Mica. So I kept the blue one and added new headlights, a new grille, Clazzios, Kickers, floor liners, tool box, 17 inch new take-off 2022 4runner wheels and tires, new tpms to work on a 2008, touch screen head unit, rear camera and interior LED's. Dejavu. Fortunately the 2008 was regularly maintained and had the frame treated and new recall rear leaf springs done. All the flushes were up to date with history on Toyota.com owners page. I did install the hood struts, that I bought for the 2012, on my 2008. WIN. Still need a 17 inch 4runner spare because the 2008 still has the original 16 inch spare wheel and tire. Dryrot ya think ? Oh I also got the hood and roof painted due to bad clear coat. I still get mad, at myself, every time I walk past his truck to drive mine. Like I said the SWB color is growing on me. But that Pyrite Mica is a very nice color.

Not what I was expecting, trans is cracked, exhaust is messed up, 2 holes on the floor, etc :( idk yet how to proceed with it, was looking into 4x4 conversions but not sure

Doing 45-50 mph, literally cruising, truck had a slight shudder that I thought was the converter, yesterday about 10 minutes into driving it there was a loud bang and there it is, it felt like the whole transmission was ripped from the truck

Good thing is I had my camping chair, as I spent 4 hours waiting for Progressive Road Assistance :anonymous:

    4AF75FD2-2076-4061-B0F9-50371036D0DD.jpg

I did a damage assessment, about to order a TRD Catback (yes, it mangled and puntured the exhaust), will be looking into a Tom Woods 1pc driveshaft, and then I still gotta figure out what to do with the transmission, maybe is time to do a 6spd swap or maybe I should leave the damn the thing stock

It was a good weekend. Friday after work I had my 285/75s mounted up Thanks to Discount tire. They did all 5 in under 45 mins. Everything clears for normal driving which I am super pumped about! I need to flex it out to see if anything hits but not as of now. Then we packed up and went camping for the weekend.

Got home on Sunday and decided to tackle the rear dumb, I mean drum brakes. :annoyed:
Always a nightmare but what is worse is right after my girlfriend left for work I saw one of my wheel cylinder bolts was loose so I sprayed with a bunch of lube let it sit and came back later and it broke off by looking at it. SO today I will get 2 new ones swap them in after work and hopefully get the brakes done. After both bolts on the wheel cylinder broke I took out my frustrations beating the spare tire holders down and did the axle dump so I could mount my big spare.

I want to say they are OE. They are in pretty bad condition. Id say the shoes are at like 20% and the drums have a huge lip on them. I had to work the adjusting wheel for like 20 mins and then pry and break off the retaining clips to get them off. I am replacing everything in there so I wasn't worried about anything getting damaged. O and I am just over 180k right now.

Man I hate OEM prices. $78 per wheel cylinder from local stealership or $28 each from Napa. I would like OEM but that price hurts. And they aren't available today. :bananadead:
