I know I need to Regear question is 4:88 or 5:29? Also wondering what is a good front locker? Below is all the extra weight that I think counts.

    Info -
    front bumper weighs 180
    Skids weigh 150
    Rear bumper will weigh 100
    All gear about 250lbs
    33” tires 240lbs (all 4)

5.29s and the front I would do a harrop or air locker. I've had my ARB for 7 years and its been fine. Rear is a different story

I've been super happy with my Eaton elocker. Simple, 2 wires, no compressor or leaky air lines/seals to worry about.

You can put a front locker in anything. Toyota only had them last in the 80 series land cruisers from factory and last of that run was 1997

I put a rear locker in and realizing need to Regear so reusing that one and adding a front cause there have been times in the past few trips that I could have used it to make life easier

Got it. So what type of locker do you have in the rear?

Tons of great info on TW with large gear threads for the 4.88 & 5.29.
It really comes down to you and what/how you wheel. If you already have an aftermarket locker in the rear I would match whatever that locker is for simplicity. As for gearing you'll be good with 4.88 or 5.29 not a huge difference between the two. I'm 5.29 with no complaints. I lean more towards the 5.29 as they will allow larger tires in the future. Whatever you re gear too, I recommend a tune after the re-gear specific to the gearing and tire. Will feel like a different truck.

The new 300 Series Land Cruiser has front and rear lockers optional.... not for this country, though. Only the LX600 w/ a rear Torsen for the USA.

yes America was screwed on that. Australia still offers the 79 series solid axles front and rear with licker options.
I lucked out with my 97 being triple locked
