Did their FTS kick in? Or did it splat in west Texas?

    Yikes.

Though I would have liked to see that.

    I wonder why not FTS...

Funny that the narrator said to watch for the retros to fire and kick up some dust but all I saw was no deceleration and then impact kicking up dust. Possibly survivable but also possibly with broken body parts. At least part of the capsule escape system worked. They need to do that again, heh heh.

Could might be they go for a full stack static fire after replacing the tiles to see if they fair better when the static fire is further away. Also need more weight on the booster to fire more engines.

I haven't seen the retros fire on any landings. They fire so close to the ground it just looks like a big dust cloud. The abort today looked the same as the rest of their landings.

Just saw the clip where things went wrong. Looked like the rocket motor started to consume more than just the fuel. The whole bottom end looked on fire.

Also, the capsule landing was shown full speed. The only time I’ve seen the retro ‘puff’ was at slower speed. Hard to tell…

If you guys are in need of a podcast to listen to check out The Space Above Us. It covers pretty much every US human space flight from the beginning until current. Not the most detailed or heavy science but it's one mission per episode and a good listen on the drive to work.

It just looked to me like it didn’t slow at all.
    No, just random net chatter.
Does slowing the video count as slowing the capsule?
