Personally I would not, Im sure plenty of members have not had issues. Ive seen many cracked beds. Ive seen some ford aluminum beds crack from the weight of an rtt. I made my rack and did a hybrid of bolted to the front and rode on the bck rail and it was fine.

Can't get a pro in an AC. I would prefer the double, as I am in a Crewmax right now, I am already okay with the tiny bed. Nobody can ask me to help them move. :D I may pull the rear seat out and use it to hold the sleeping bag, pillow, etc. so I can sleep in the RTT anytime I go anywhere. Thinking about doing that in the Tundra if I keep it, too.

Very impressive! I'm not that handy, but I might be able to come up with something to connect the rack to the bed bolts for rigidity. Something to think about for sure.

you can definitely and some legs to the bars to help prevent that. Do you leave the rtt on fulltime?

Yes. I don't have a garage or anywhere to store it. It also acts as a security cage for my spare in the bed.

They are heavy bitches too. Without a garage hoist its a pain. I removed my mt Denali off my trailer for some reason and it was a 2 person job. Second time I used the tractor.
Add some legs, doesn't need to be fancy. Go out wheel it and enjoy it. Had you of posted this 2 weeks ago I would have brought you that rack while I was in Sheridan.

All good! 2 weeks ago I was working nights, so I would have likely attacked you to drink your blood.

I get out and camp enough that I love the tent and know it's the setup I want. Whether that's on the Tundra or a Taco, it's what is right for me.

Any interest in a fullsize heavy duty regular cab?

If you don't need the interior space, and could use the 8' bed and payload capability. You could consider it a downsize.

Did you just say I have an itchy taco?! o_O

I have the worst luck ever on used vehicles. I avoid buying used at all cost. If you know somebody with a brand new 2nd gen, I'm definitely interested.

Good thought, but I'm not interested in a regular cab. I need some interior space as it's my only vehicle. Sometimes gear or groceries can't be out in the weather. I prefer a smaller bed, too. Much easier to tell people you can't help them move because your bed is full, when you only have a 5 footer! I use my utility trailer when I need more outside space or payload. If I stay full size I'll keep lovin' my Tundra for sure.

You could just build a trail rig like an older jeep or a Suzuki samurai or something like that. You could buy and build the truck axle’s, lockers the whole deal and still be 30k ahead of what you would be into a new Tacoma. Also you wouldn’t have to worry about scratching up your new 50k truck so you could a actually have fun with it.

Spending an additional $30K doesn't come out ahead when compared to trading. You think I'd trade my Tundra and take on another 30 grand? No way. Whole point here is to be financially lateral. I'll have to talk to a connection I was pointed to to see if it's even possible, but I won't do the deal if it's shoveling more debt on. I also don't have the skills to build a trail rig, a trailer to haul it on, or the space to store it.

Yeah, I'm to the point that I've decided, and it's going to happen. The Tundra is just more than I need, and I want a Tacoma. Can't wait!

Hoping to get news on allotments this week. If the Solar Octane turns out to be unobtainium, then I should be able to get a white one in state. I really don't want to wait 6 months and be devaluing my trade.
