Nothing but gains to be had if you get the fuel and spare all to the rear as much as possible.

Putting a cell in it certainly gets him closer!

Cell is too dynamic of a weight for me. I’m bad and sometimes run a full tank and sometimes run almost empty lol

Aint nothin but a change of habits. I personally don't go out without a full tank because getting stranded just isn't fun.

Yeah that’s no fun. Bigger trips and what not I’d always have a full tank but probably 95% of the driving I do is in the cinders ohv area which is less than 1/2mile from my house so I don’t always check to see if the tank is full

I’m trying to wrap my head around how it’s clamped to the lathe chuck. All I can see happening: clamped the outside of the cv and drill out the shorten/cut shaft but the star will be wobbling around while being drilled out. Or maybe a steady rest needs to be used?

Cut the axle shaft short. Then you can spin the star(inner race) to remove from the joint.

Depends where you put the cell really.
If you hang it way off the back it changes how it drives ALOT, between full and empty, Mines right behind the cab as low as I could put it without hitting the upper link and truck only squats like 4" difference between 32 gallons and like no gallons, pretty much drives the same all the time

Yup, whack it short with a cut off. Pull the race out and clamp only the race.

hey sorry about not seeing this, posting from the middle of the Bering sea right now. The extra ends are what was supplied on them when I ordered them from accutune. They worked perfect with my total chaos kit. Had to shorten the ends up when I switched to my dirt designs kit.

This is a dumb question but oh well…

For those of you that have tubbed your truck. What did you find was the best tool?

Initially I was just going to use an angle grinder and go to town (I suck at curves with one of these) but after reading it seems like a few recommendations put the angle grinder last on the list.

At the top of the list was a body saw, which I don’t have, so I was thinking about using a jigsaw instead.

    Anyway…what’s the word on tools?

I used 2 different cut off wheels, air saw, air hammer with cutting bit, and a roto lock sanding disc.

just gotta use what fits best

For this project I really only have a die grinder and a jig saw. The jig saw would be nice since it’s a bit quieter and can handle curves.

But yeah as you said, whatever fits best.

Pretty straight forward and fast with a angle grinder/cutoff wheel, you just get tickled by sparks. Only thing I used

This my first choice. But then after reading so many tubbing threads and seeing people say angle grinder was their last choice it got me second guessing myself.

Then I was thinking about a jigsaw since the angle grinder is really loud. I’m doing this in the driveway if a super quiet neighborhood. :)
