Wow that's impressive! People tend to complain about the Tacoma's having rear drums, but you can't deny the longevity/maintenance aspect is fantastic. I found the replacement of the rear brakes relatively easy, I'm glad I decided to do it myself.

I agree completely. I hate drum brakes, they are old tech and don't work as well as disks but you can not complain about replacing them twice in the lifetime of a vehicle. They aren't that hard if you have the right tools and don't care about struggling with 1 spring for 15 mins. And for a shop to charge like $300 plus in labor. Must do yourself. I actually took an old screwdriver and cut a notch in the blade so I could push the springs into the tight spaces I was struggling to get the needle nose into.

I forgot to ask. Before I put my wheels and tires back on last night I took a pic of my springs. What do you all think? To much weight for a weak spring? I have had (for lack of better term) whaling or porpusing back and forth when on concrete highways (think of going over whoops to fast and the back can't keep up with the front) I feel like I am under sprung in the rear and with the springs doing the W I am guessing I need stronger springs? Any input would be great, the better half is getting real annoyed with it as am I.

Oh man... that damn spring!!! haha i struggled with it for a while too, ended up cutting the old ones out because I bought a new hw kit. But getting the new one on, i was like "this is never going to make it all the way over to that hole its impossible!" the screwdriver technique is a good idea for sure. I ended up using a pair of needle nose vise grips, but still it took some force.

They do look a little tired to me. I've enjoyed my OME Dakar CS047R with the extra leaf, they're really stout and even with a fully loaded bed or towing they dont squat. The only time I've really seem some serious squat is with 47 cases of LVP flooring on a pallet lol

Just realized that 5100 with 885 Old man emu springs require UCA! Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! Or is it that I installed a 1/4” top space to mitigate driver side lean

update: DO NOT USE A SPACER IF RUNNING 5100 (BOTTOM CLIP) WITH 885X SPRINGS UNLESS YOU HAVE AFTERMARKET UCA!!!

Alpharex Luxx tail lights. Picked them up on Tacoma beasts labor day sale. They look awesome and I love the sequential motion. Applied a protective coating and hoping they last a while. If I had to complain about one thing it would be the reverse lights. They suck! I had the 886 bulbs in the reverse lights previously and they were much brighter.

Oh ok ok ok. Seems like when they assembled the shock package the spring is not at the right location therefore the OEM upper control barely touches the old man emu 885X. On the passenger side the spring seems to be in the right spot and clears with no issue. Another thing to notate is that I installed a 1/4”(composed of 2 1/8” spacers) top spacer to mitigate the driver side 1/2” lean.

UPDATE: FUCK THE SPACER!!!DONT USE UNLESS YOU HAVE AFTERMARKET UPPER CONTROL ARM!!!

wait are you talking about the 1/4” lean spacer or did you put a spacer lift on top of the OME/885x?
