That's so sick but as a Dad I can't imagine the feeling in the pit of his parents guts watching him fly through the air like that.

@gixxerphil So, looks like the rumors of a Honda Transalp have some merit.

Somebody spotted one out in the wild and got some pics before Honda has even announced it. Here's the video that I saw on it, and then some pics without the watermarks. Kinda looks like the CB500X, NC750X and the Africa Twin had a three way and this is the offspring.

I've been following. It seems like it's gonna be a tad more road oriented......which I don't mind b/c I have the little Rally. I'm gonna consider one after the used ones start hitting the market :D

The CB500X is road oriented, too, but look what Rally Raid did with them. Imagine what they could do with a more capable bike. :woot:

I'm a noob, so I'll be gunning for a CB500X, but for somebody taller or more experience a 750 like it could be the sweet spot to not have a big fat liter bike in the dirt and rocks.

So, I went into the summer thinking to downsize the herd. I ended up selling two...

    ...and buying 2 more.

    I'm even, right?

Rumor is that the Hornet and Transalp will share a powerplant. Wonder if they'll do a 3 bike line up like they did with the CB500s. Hornet like the 500F, Transalp like the 500X and IDK what for the R500R.

Are they announcing hornet as a model? The way I understood it was Hornet was the name for the engine line itself.

If I had it to do over, I probably would have gone with the 500x. It would have been plenty for my riding, but I have no complaints with the little 300 Rally :D

I've got a little seat time. Got my first at 5, now 43 :D

Im short, but lowering links are grand
They'll detune it for the transalp. I bet to around 75hp or so. No different than the 300L/Rally and the CBR300. They used different cams, airbox, etc. Not that the CBR is that much more powerful though

I'd also assume the 500x and CBR are tuned different even though they share the same drivetain.drive tain.

I'm excited to see the Transalp. I love the Africa Twin, but that's just too heavy a bike for what I'd want. I'm not trying to eat up a bunch of highway miles. Backroads are fine with me.

I want something like the T7 with a Honda badge

I'm short too, but so the CB500X appeals there. My first bike I rode was a Honda VTX1300 and that was just way too much for a beginner. Also, no good for the rutted washboard road I live on. Any trip I take has a minimum of 2 miles of that in it, so a cruiser was a bad choice. Really only bought it to help my brother get out of debt. Anyway, took a couple spills and had a helmet that was too small so I decided motorcycles weren't for me.

Few years later, here I am with an itch for a bike again. Research, use, and the fact that I'm new and don't like the typical windy fast roads on a bike put the CB500X in a perfect spot. Sub 60 MPH it's supposed to be great, capable enough to handle a county road, sips fuel, linear power and torque so it doesn't thrash a new rider, etc. Bonus points for being a style I love the look of. Sometime in the next year I plan to get one.

All the CB500 bikes, X, F, and R are tuned the same. They are all the same power in order to meet the European A2 license requirements.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Transalp at the same'ish power as the Tenere 700, as that'll be the most direct comparison. Then again, Honda does their own thing, and it works.

I wasn't sure about the 500 models as i wasn't aware of the 500x when i started looking into the Rally once it came out.. If that's the case, I wonder why the 300's are different. I know the CBR 300 cams are an "upgrade" for the 300L/Rally guys. 550 performance even has a tune for it. If I can somehow add a Transapl to the collection, I think that'd be it for me :D No plans to get rid of my Rally

Well that’s a shame! T7 it is for me. You could just slap a Honda badge on it. The amount of stupid you would find would be funny. “I didn’t know Honda made a bike like that”
