When scavenging through the website I ran across a list of last year’s, so there has to be some kind of list to know what you’re drinking. They Include the journal which may double as the list. I’m curious and I will definitely be posting more information on it when I receive it.

So I don't drink at all, but a little while ago I started working a couple shifts a week stockin shelves at a liquor store lmao. Like a side hustle sorta. Here and there I've been picking off cool bottles and oddballs as investments/flips and maybe some gifts along the way. Like a side hustle to my side hustle sorta. Here's my humble collection so far:
(+ a full set of Game o Thrones whiskeys i didn't bother pulling out of the box)

This reminds me, I was chatting with a talkative ABC clerk today and he told me he has a collection of nearly 200 bottles. “I have first pick”. Confirms so many of my suspicions. But hey, pretty tough temptation to pass up.

Headed to Jersey this weekend. @cynicalrider what are my chances of scoring some rare bottles around Atlantic City area?

So on that note I was talking to my regular guy at BevMo and they have employee raffles for all the good bottles and he won a GTS on the last one and sold it on the secondary.

At the end of the day you can’t blame these people taking advantage of the market. Instead you have to blame all of us bourbon fiends for establishing all the demand.

Typically what I have seen from some more affluent areas (Summit for example) you can get your hands on almost anything if you are willing to pay out the nose for it. I assume AC area is the same way.

Kinda what I assumed. Maybe I'll get lucky on the tables and splurge on something.

    $100
but they don't typically sell allocated stuff to the public. I guess nobody on the list wanted that one so i sniped it while i had my chance
Probably not gonna keep it for long though

Any time I see prices above msrp I get nauseated.

Some doofus on r/whiskey today was talking about the $85 he paid for a bottle of Eagle Rare being "worth it because the 10 year is a little more special than standard Eagle Rare".

    People are insane right now.

Here the controls on prices and that stuff are very lenient. And i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the companies send a lil extra to jersey/ny to pick up extra interest from the tourists n population density. So you really can find anything and everything for the right price or knowing the right person
That's sorta what i'm trying to do while not being too douchy or illegal about it. I'm related to the owner so i kinda got roped into the job as a favor; in some ways it's great i really like it, other hand i'm not really getting much out of it that i couldn't get if i was just anyone. So i'm gonna try to get in on the allocated stuff and slick deals to make it a bit more favorable for me too haha

just did a quick search of one of my groups.....

    circle liquors
    white horse
    Canals Egg Harbor

if you have a little bit of time on your travels, Tomar's in Haddon and Benash in CHerry hill are strong recommendations. Be warned, the owners are friendly and they will have many store picks for you to sample!

Yea i'd think about it at that price on the Blanton's if i was buying it to drink. I'm just hoping to make like $40-50 on somebody looking for a letter b or determined to find one without being a dick about it. A good Christmas gift if i still have it then. Eagle Rare goes close to msrp
It really is crazy. I haven't even been at it a while and i've already seen quite a lot. Amazing how many people know the truck routes and allocations better than the managers even bother to remember. When told what they're looking for isn't sold to the public they'll ask the manager for a different manager. Their wife very obviously right behind them with a note of what to ask for in case it's 1 per. People waiting before we open every day. People spending $3 daily on shooters. And i'm told all that is relatively normal, it's sad

Tomar's is 38 mins from me, maybe I'll pop in next time I go to the mall.

I just stopped searching for anything good in Jersey and just get stuff that is normal priced here. EW BIB, Four Roses, Widow Jane are all still appropriately priced or MAYBE 5-10% more. I literally have like 3 fine wines across the border in PA from me within 20 mins but I just don't go hunting to hunt. The moment I spent $65 on Weller SR and wasn't overly impressed and then ya'll told me it's a $23 bottle of juice I vowed to never over spend like that again. (Minus that $25 dollar pour of Blantons in NYC but that was date night so it got the exception :p)
