Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

Have to enjoy what you are doing. If it's just for a paycheck, some jobs can be miserable.

 

My job task went very smooth today. Finish a tad bit before schedule even.
And then...

 

My company cleared out a big storage area in the building to expand production. Had a construction company come in to do the walls ceiling floors electrical and other crap. Because of government contracts no one is allowed in the building unless accompanied by some one who works in the building. The construction company pays someone to stand there all day to make sure they are all working and are company pays someone to sit next to him and make sure no one goes walking off into another room. Cracks me up.

We have to do the same sometimes for various contractors. If someone is on site without what's called unescorted access. To get that access requires quite a extensive background check including financial credentials and FBI fingerprints..I don't even want to talk about the microscope

 

Pretty neat. Even better if it had its own air source.

 

Nice! Nebraska finally has the CCP, for renewal it can be done all online. I did this Monday so we'll see how long it takes to get the new card.

That's why I posted it.. someone here could invent something!

 

When I was young I was so thankful to have a job it took me quite a number of years to figure out that some people genuinely enjoyed their jobs...

 

The wheels were churning...or grinding

 

They do

 

On bad days I just remind myself- I've done a helluva lot more for a helluva lot less....I've been that guy who's boss said I need you to trace hydrolic tube with a trenching shovel till you find the leak, 75 yards later no effing leak. I appreciate those times, they made me tougher.

 

With that said, I made a huge amount of money off my factory coworkers.

It seemed, once off the clock, they wanted nothing to do with wrenching/welding.

I truly was amazed at the number of cats' that wanted a utility trailer from me. I would deliver the trailer to their drive. I could not help noticing that there was nothing more than a hammer or a leaf rake hanging on the wall of the garage.

These were skilled machinists or millwrights.

Maybe I'm envious. They were able to completely separate job from work.
