When you figure it out, lets the rest of us know. One of mine stripped out so I ran a longer bolt through it and put a nut on. It makes it a pain to remove, but it has held up for a few years.

If only that was all I needed! On the last trip I wrapped some copper wire and electrical tape around the threads. Lasted about 10 minutes and the bolt was gone and the skid was rattling!
Yeah, maybe I just need to cut/grind mine off and fab up some new ones that are beefier. Seems like getting them aligned will suck a bit, but maybe it's just a nice afternoon job.
    Will do.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

LOL, some would see this as a somewhat ironic answer :). Is this some generally known thing that I'm out of the loop on? I've always had good experiences with the stuff I've bought from them. Rather than just bash and run, can you share why?

On the one hand, I'm not a huge fan of the style/approach sometimes. But on the other hand, I feel like the biggest problem we have as a society right now is that we aren't willing to listen to each other and show respect to each other. Trying to combat the latter outweighs the former for me, so I'm not blocking anyone and always hoping for the best.

Plus, it's just the internet, and no matter how wonky it gets here, it's way worse on "real" social media.

Lmao... kind of funny, chances are those who would find ironic would probably fit comfortably in that category too

Like I said, not trying to convince anyone of anything. It's just my personal opinion, based off experience and observation.

I was asked a direct question of if I was buying one of his products. The answer absolutely not.

I don't need to elaborate so the people that should be in the same category as Mike can nit pick and tell me why >my opinion< is wrong or invalid

Cleaned my seats, door panels fabric, floor carpet, & headliner today. Used a Bissell Little Green, rented it from Ace Hardware for $15. My driver's seat & door panel were pretty filthy from my years as a mechanic so I didn't expect much. I amazed how well that little thing worked!

Driver seat is getting worn. I ordered a full set of seat covers so I wanted to clean the seats before they get put on. Again I'm absolutely amazed at the result!

    Before:

Nasty ass water from just the front seats. Sun light wouldn't even penetrate through it (that container is all clear).
    20220913_123228.jpg

Rear seats weren't nearly as dirty, the water was still pretty nasty.
    20220913_134128.jpg

Now I'm considering buying one these things because of how well it worked.

Foaming glass cleaner cleans the heck out of seats also, maybe not for a deep clean like that, but for the lil spills and what not

Nice. Thanks Zane. I seem to always come back for a while when I have stuff to do to the truck. ;) Did a while lot of work in the past month. This was the only thing I posted cause I couldn't believe the result. Yup I'm sold on the Bissell extractors. We had one decades ago, the boxy green Bissell with the tank on the side. I don't remember that thing working very well. Wow have things changed.

Funny I use Sprayway foamy glass cleaner to spot clean all sorts of stuff, carpet in the house, my shoes, truck interior panels, etc.

My interior needed a deep clean, I've never cleaned any of it other than wiping down, vacuuming, & blowing dust out. I didn't think the extractor would do much at all for my driver seat & driver door panel. That's all grime from when I worked at a shop, didn't used to change my clothes before going home.

Closer shots of the driver seat. I think I could've probably gotten it a little cleaner but whatever, it's worn, . Plenty good for seat covers now.

I found a loaner vacuum pump at O'Reilly's. Trying to figure out a way to bench test my evaporator before I reinstall it in the truck and test the whole system. I think I've decided it's not worth it, but if anyone here has a simple idea, I'm all ears.

We got one of those carpet cleaners (Bissell brand) for the house recently, with a 2.5 yr old it's a godsend for furniture lol. I hadn't thought to use it on my truck but I will now.

Drop bracket lift and booger welds

Super late to the party but this was my solution. I completely ripped off both my straps after Moab in 2017. I tried to get it close to original locations but in the end it was easier to just modify my skids a bit to accommodate the larger bolts:

3/16" flat bar bent up to wrap around the mount, then nuts welded to the mount.

[IMG]IMG_9139 by Michael Halat, on Flickr

I used metric hardware to keep the truck consistent, can't remember the size, maybe m8 1.5?

[IMG]IMG_9141 by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]IMG_9144 by Michael Halat, on Flickr

It was fully welded all the way around. This skid connects my IFS and transmission skids together so I wanted it as beefy as possible.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

Been running that for almost 5 years of hard wheeling with no issues.

I mean if you broke a breaker bar THAT big my puny impact wouldn't do shit either. Just wonder how the nut/threads got so badly galled that you are having such issues getting it off. If it was me I am not sure I would use that CV/nut anymore.

Bolt the new attachment point to the jack, mount it up, tack the new bracket in place. Remove skids and weld.
