Not sure on the mud flaps and if will hit. Seems to be enough clearance but again I don’t have them.
See if I can find another pic to give you a closer view

Depends on what mudflaps you plan to install. There are plenty of low profile options if your good with aftermarket.

Have OEM mud flaps on mine, they just clear.

Not who you asked. And I have different size tires.
But my 255/85R16 - on factory steel - with stock suspension - and AFTERMARKET mud flaps - fit without rubbing.

First post, please be gentle. I will be buying my first new vehicle (2023 Tacoma SR Access Cab 4x2 I4) and was just curious of what I can expect. I am currently driving a 2011 2.0L Jeep Patriot and it has always had enough power for me. I'm just curious to see what I can expect moving to the 2.7L Tacoma. It's so cool to see everyone else's builds and see everyone's questions answered so quickly!!! I have already learned so much just from lurking on the forums!

Welcome. Your not gonna win any races in the 4cyl. Its definitely a turd. The pedal lag/responsiveness is really the issue. Theres plenty of power there for a small pickup truck. Most folks go with the i4 for reliability, not power, so if your looking for something to drive for the long haul you chose a tried and true motor.

ECT PWR certainly helps the "peddal feel" and makes the 4cyl a bit more peppy.

Coming from a v6 gen1.... this i4 truck has no ass, but I'm very happy with it. And I'm averaging 20-22 mpg, so it's better than the 16-18 I was getting on my v6 first gen. It's a good little pickup truck.

Fine little truck, I prefer it over the 3.5 myself. If you want speed, buy a Ford.

If you want issues buy a Ford. I was really gonna buy a ranger when I picked this truck up. I asked my neighbor Dan how his F250 was. He said he had the entire upper half of his motor rebuilt under warranty, he had standing water on the drivers side floorboard every time it rained, and a bunch of other minor issues. That 250 was only 2 years old.

I asked my neighbor John how he likes his F150 twin turbo. 3 years old...extended warranty. He said both turbos had issues that required warranty work. The entire lower half of the engine was rebuilt under warranty due to oil leaks, and he had antifreeze leaking that required another trip to the dealer. His latest adventure was that all his lugnuts needed to be replaced. The truck is now 5 years old and the extended warranty is just about up. He said he has to get rid of it since he is concerned about reliability.

After hearing all this crap I decided that I wasn't gonna mess with a ranger and just stick with a 4cyl long haul reliable base model truck. I wanted a Ford... I didn't want headaches

Note: both of these people are mechanics and take care of their shit... so these Ford issues arent due to lack of maintenance or general beating up of the vehicle.

    I've often said:
"I'm not the first one across the finish line, but I do make it across EVERY time." (reliability is better than speed)

I chose the 2.7 for the fact that it's been around for a decade, I don't have to drop the skid plate to change the oil, and it was $3000 cheaper. I chose an SR for the same reason... to save money. My thinking was the bare bones truck is likely to last me 400k and give me very little problems and theres less stuff to break. I didn't know a lot about the new V6 at the time so I decided early on I was going to love the 4cly no matter what

I drove a new 2016 company F150 XLT for about 3 years, had electrical gremlins but the little normally aspirated V6 ran great and returned 24 MPG consistently. It felt a shit load faster than the 3.5 Tacoma I test drove. All that said, I bought a Tacoma 2.7 and wouldnt trade it for a 3.5, at least not the current iteration. Had the 3rd gen stuck with the 4.0, I would have probably went that way.

Electrical gremlins.... right... my son had an F150 with these same gremlins.

I'm sure the thing runs great... when it runs... my neighbor brags about his twin turbo flex fuel still getting 24 mpg. He also hates it when ot has to go in for a weeks worth of warranty work. Every vehicle has their peaks and valleys .. I'm glad I didn't get a ranger
