Lomax looks quality too, but TBF MX4 has two thumb screws and out, so same time to take off (hardly any at all).

and as always YMMV but I have not experienced much water intrusion at all with my install- power wash/rainstorm etc.

    Another vote for Gator here.

Priced right, rolls up secure out of the way, latches tight, waterproof and sits perfectly flush on the Tundra. Assuming it does on a Tacoma too.

No DiamondBack love yet ....lol. Its an investment, but many swear by them. I just ordered a smooth SE, I really am looking forward to getting it on there. Eventually will have some form of rack system on it.... one step at a time :)

No money, all went to truck...
another vote for MX4. bakflip is a stand up company, honor warranty even with shipping to Hawaii.

Together with keyed tailgate lock, it's the best thing ever.

I like my try fold soft top for the same reasons, furthermore it fits in the back seat If I have to remove it on the road!

I guess it comes down to needing a hard or soft top.

The Lomax Stance third panel folds up but I have the Lomax Pro and it does not. What you missed was I said in my post that the Lomax is easily removed with no tools in a minute to allow full bed use and thus you can see out the rear window.
I never liked a folding panel blocking the rear window view and so easy to take off for hauling brush or big loads. I put large totes under the third panel when I’m going on trips and they are easy to just slide out even with the third panel there, allowing full bed use in that way as well.

Everyone just be advised that acorns falling from very tall trees will dent the tonneau cover a little.
    Same with balls of hail.

Problem is, if you’re out and about needing to use your full bed, where would you store the cover? Example: at the store and see a washer and dryer (or any other appliance )that is a steal, but would need the full bed to haul it home.

lol, in all of my life I’ve never had an emergency pickup like that! But if I did I would remove the Lomax cover, load the appliances and then lay the cover on its side beside them and strap it all down. If needed I would lower my tailgate and my bed extender. Where there’s a will there’s a way. :D

Not this one. it’s the Lomax Pro diamond plate. Has an extra brace in the middle of each panel, plates are decently thick and the cover looks as good as the day I bought it 2+ years ago. I’m a function over looks guy and after lots of research this is what I chose and zero regrets. love it!
Do a lot of research and only then choose what’s best for you and you’ll be happy.

Regardless of what you choose, if it’s locking like the MX4 and lomax - do yourself a favor and get the R4T popnlock or OEM locking tailgate - about $100 and super easy to install. Absolute game changer

Personally I look at how they mount and if you can deal with the variety of poorly designed mounting systems out their. Most are generic then have some cheaply designed adapters for specific vehicles. Backflip for instance, relocates the bed rails making them far weaker for any practical use, some have large protruding catches into the bed that waste cargo space. All depends on how you use the bed. for many, these limitations are not an issue for others they are. Then you get onto how they fold and how easy to remove if they don’t fold out of the way completely.
For me the OEM had the best design for how I use a bed, so I waited until I found a used on, the Leer was close second, but I think they stopped making that.

Agree, but they can take 4 times the load of ones that have been dropped with 1~2” brackets.

I had the MX4. I liked it. I since went with a topper, but that is a different subject. You can always check out Craigslist to see if any are for sale in your area.
