Please inspect your 5,6,7,8,9th pictures for a crack in the casting at the transmission. Can't tell if it is only paint or the beginning of a failure. I do not see any red around the "crack"... so?

Ignore, other people got to that before me.

I’m not sure either. I’ve had it for 3-4 years, put on 40,000+ miles on it since it’s been installed but I only recently saw the leak.

I’ve been up to date on maintenance; oil change and tire rotation and cabin air filter every 5K, brake bleed and flush every 2-3 years, brake pads replaced around 50K, spark plugs and engine air filter around 60K, transmission and radiator fluid around 65K.

It’s part of owning a modified truck. We lift them and put bigger tires. All of that causes more stress on the other parts. Doesn’t “break” right away, but slowly over time.

just curious. Are you on stock gears? In the diff.

It does appear to be all the way around but I can’t tell if it’s superficial or not.

Here are a couple more from up top. It’s hard to get a picture because I can’t fit a flashlight up due to the heat shield.

Is this basically a good representation of the axle wrap my Tacoma is experiencing?

    https://youtu.be/54_6GaYJvWI

That’s what is causing the stress on the components, eventually cracking and leaking?

that crack in the paint is just where the yoke and dust cap meet. the dust cap is stamped metal and there to keep grass, fishing line, string etc from getting to the actual output seal. The leak is coming out of the end of the yoke. If you look there is a cap in the end of it right behind the u-joint. Clean it real good and wipe some RTV around the cap.

Bilstein 6112's 5th clip 1/4" spacer driver's side. Icon tubular UCA's with Delta joint, wheelers superbumps, ECGS bushing. Allpro standard leaf packs, 5160's, U bolt flip kit with wheelers super bump's, extended stainless steel brake lines, carrier bearing drop. Icon rebounds 17" with Nitto terra grappler G2's 285/70/17's.
My bet is impeller shaft vibration is causing a random leak around the seal or rear bushing.

I don't think anyone said it was leaking from the crack only that it was indicative of some extreme forces happening in that area that could be causing the leak.

THIS. for sure the vibration is causing the seal to be compromised.

What he said. There's a thru hole there for manufacturing.

Any leak from the transmission output seal would have been dripping from the gray cup and not the yoke.
