I wouldn't have Walmart putting tires on my cars. I have had surprising luck getting my local Discount Tire (which locally has outstanding service) to match all prices, including Amazon prices. I would try getting your local best shop to match prices.

Actually I was also looking at the Michelin LTX AT2. $1,030 plus tax installed at Costco, $1,168 plus tax at Tire Kingdom. Getting them at Costco would be a 50 mile drive each way for me, so I would try to have Tire Kingdom price match.

I bought a few pairs of tires from Walmart ~10 years ago for my old Volvo. Never had any issues.
I actually used to get my oil changed there too back then before I had space or tools to do it myself. No issues.

I'm sure some Walmarts have good auto techs and some have bad ones, so it's probably luck of the draw. Worked out for me, but a dedicated tire shop is a better bet to know what they're doing and do it right.

And as long as the deal isn't "Only if installed at Walmart" you can probably take them almost anywhere you want to get installed. Lately I buy tires from tirerack and then bring them in to Firestone for install and balance at ~$30/tire, which sounds like the same cost quoted to have it done at Walmart.

I am looking at tires from Costco for a different vehicle. I note on their website if you buy the set of four and installation, they throw in free rotations, balancing and road hazard coverage for free for life of tire. Pretty hard to get anyone to match those services, even if they meet the price. Not excited about having them do the install but am going to go ahead with them. BTW, I sent a note to Discount tire about a week ago through their "found it cheaper?" link. No response

Yes, I did notice that. It's a heck of a deal. Even if Tire Kingdom matched the tire price I don't think they'd throw all that in. The only thing that doesn't thrill me is the 50 mile drive each way.

Thanks op! I just ordered 4 for $533.20 delivered to my door.

I am redoing my suspension and going back to stock (Semas), so replacing my E rated ST MAxx's was on the menu anyways.

Cool! If you wouldn't mind, when you get them if you can report back on the manufacture date on the tires I'd be very curious.

National Tire and Battery (NTB) is an American brand of auto service centers. It was formerly owned by Sears until it was spun off in 2003. In 2020 Mavis Tire Supply Co. bought 112 NTB Tire & Service Centers, leaving the parent TBC Corporation with 615 locations under the Tire Kingdom and NTB brands.[2]

    Not part of Discount Tire.

There is usually a fall sale on Michs at Costco, plus a $1 per tire install 'bonus' sale.

That install price has been all inclusive, meaning dismount, mount, lifetime balance, lifetime rotation & road hazard warranty.

If you can get all that price matched it would be awesome.

If you but 'em - check each tire for week / year produced... ideally they are all the same and produced in the same lot.
I think a few weeks off should be no problems but not the year.

I replaced some tires on a vehicle I sold prior to getting the tacoma, and one of them was a full year older than the other three.

My neighbor just told me last night that his son landed a job at a ( un-named-by-design ) auto-dealership.
I was happy and said cool and then he said yea well he's 17 years old doesn't know a hammer from a screwdriver and he's going to be their #1 Oil Change dude.

Now the kid is smart and responsible and I'm sure in time he'll make out just fine - but ... - there it is .... like a first hand sighting of bigfoot we have right
here in its natural habitat a rank rookie changing oil on 40,000 vehicles for minimum wage....

Real “catch” is that this is an older design or version of the Cooper all terrain tire. I had a set of Cooper Discoverer ATR tire back in 2009. Same exact tire.

So, Walmart is just selling an older design. Therefore, not the flagship and cheaper.

Yeah, these are not the 4s's, just AT3's. Also if you look at the siping, these from wal mart have far less of it.

For almost $100 a tire less, I am willing to risk it.

Man, I was wondering myself why coopers were so much less than the bfgs I got. I guess its the 10 ply? I’m on 265/75/16…. Just gotta say, had a girlfriend several years back that got some brake work done at Sears and they ruined the bias so bad, every corner you took (front wheel drive) it sent it into an e-brake skid. It was kinda fun at first. Got a little scary, and she accused me of driving her car like it was stolen. She had to raise hell in order to get them to fix it. It’s alright though she was pretty good at raising hell.
