Most don't like seeing 10 other trucks the same as their own every 10 minutes...

What region are you in? Iʻd get a Trail but dealers here act like they never heard of it...

Dealerships here only want to sell what they have on "allocation".

Tacoma's aren't common in my area (midwest). When I bought my 2019 TRD OR, there were probably 50 for sale between four dealers, and none were Pros. Last time I think I saw a Pro on the road here was two years ago.

Each region kind of has their own uniqueness to allocations and what they tend to receive / allocate. You can do a special allocation request but it’s not always guaranteed and Toyota has the final say but it sounds like your allocation wasn't out of the norm for the region and the dealer likely did a request for ya. But ya this is not the norm or usual for most. Most dealers will just provide you with available allocations and tell you this is what you get, some will let you remove port options, and some will make the effort to do a request just depends on how far the willingness they are to get you what you want.

I don't know the actual name of my region or even exactly what it encompasses, but I'm in Utah.

Having no luck here in the SET region getting any dealer to try and order/allocate a Pro in Solar Octane...Unless I'm willing to pay market adjustments ($2500 up to $10,000) or keep all the junk dealer fees including all the port installed items. They all have the typical $599-$799 dealer processing fee I can stomach that, but adding another $899 for tint, pulsing brake light and diminished value protection I just can't see. A Pro with no options is already going to be at least 55 grand OTD. Some have also refused to sell me a truck unless I finance with them or trade in my current vehicle...I guess the good days of cash talks and BS walks are long gone. I understand dealers can decide to set the prices anyway they see fit, I can also decide to just keep my current toys (1999 Tacoma single cab 4X4 and a 1972 Corvette) I want a new truck I don't need one.

OK vent over go back to your regularly scheduled program...

touché. Yea I was waiting on an OR allocation and could have bought a trail edition. It would have been more than my offroad. I passed. If it had the smart key I would have gone for it. As much as I liked it I also felt it was over priced.

For me, I feel like the price difference is close enough to be balanced out by personal preference. Sure, the OR has a few neat features that I will literally never use, but I just LIKE the Trail better, and that's worth a few bucks to me. I also like the rarity factor of the Trail. ORs and Sports are EVERYWHERE, at least where I live - I see a BUNCH of them every day, every time I drive anywhere - but I have yet to spot a Trail anywhere in the real world, and I like that. Now watch Toyota build like 80,000 of them this year...

totally agree. I was like ohhh but I won’t have crawl control etc. then I get my OR and look up at it realizing I will never use it. If only it had that blasted smart key!! Which next year it will

Are they making any SR v6 access cabs on 23s yet? I got a quote at a dealer today for a 23 SR at $38,200. I was like damn. I can get a 22 sr5 double cab LB for that price. Anway. I hope my quote and deposit at another dealer at between 34-35k holds up.

I didn’t want the packages that are coming with mine, but I think I’ll enjoy those heated leather seats.
