Yep, I'll save my 400 bucks and continue my yearly. Good luck!

I’m in the burbs of Chicago and was quoted about 400 last year. I went and got 3 cans of FF then did it myself. Easy to do and will do it again next month

All these products are great and all, but the best I’ve seen and used by far has been Surface Shield by PB Blaster. Stuff is downright amazing. I’d recommend it over Fluid Film any day. Much thicker, creeps, and lasts twice as long if not longer. I still have a thick coating under my truck after last season. Very impressed.

I use Fluid Film and my truck frame and undercarriage still looks brand new. The only place you gotta worry about it washing off is near the tires and suspension components. Touch up as needed when you see it's washed off.

My fluid film and WW treatment is still on from last year everywhere. Surface Shield is like twice the cost and I don't trust any product for over a year regardless.

Those are the areas that normally get wool wax for me to prevent wash out

I haven't tried surface shield yet, but after using rp-342 cosmoline i can't think of anything much better. After more than 2 years it's 99% still there, and thats saying a lot for the climate we have here in the northeast. Fluid flim sucks compared to it.

Only issue with krown, they want you to keep returning every year, or your vehicle will lose its protection against corrosion. Generally why your paying less. You get what you pay for.

Voids the frame warranty. I'll stick to lanolin based products.

Spoke to the dealer when they asked me who did it...said it doesn't void the warranty. thats bs. Who told you that?

I'm assuming that not only because I've heard of older trucks having coatings like ziebart and Krown denied new frames but also because it's not easily removed. Hell, they may tell you it's fine and dandy one minute then when it's crunch time they'll tell you to piss off. Just a concern for me.

Zeibart being the coating it is ruined frames before its time. I could see manufactures voiding frame warranties with that stuff, but not others like ff, krown, or cosmoline type similar type coatings. Its the rubberized ones that wreck a chassis. Bmw, mercedes, and the military all use cosmoline cause it lasts, and will heal itself. I did a bunch of research before applying it.

I don’t think the “you get what you pay for” case applies here. For individuals who live in salt states, paying a measly $120-$-150 a year is well worth not having your frame turn to Swiss cheese. I would wager the majority of people pay many times that for drive through coffee or fast food. My experience with Krown has always been a pleasant one, their customer service and professionalism is top shelf, at least for my visits. 9 times out of 10 I’m not even acknowledged at a check out counter these days.

Not doubting the effectiveness at all. Cosmoline is used to store guns long term in the military and it seems to work well. Lanolin works just as well in my experience with both. I reapply every year regardless of how much is left which usually it's still at 80-90% overall and all the critical areas are still nicely protected.

I can 100% tell you this statement isn't true. No military application uses cosmoline (maybe small arms, but no major weapon systems). None. Maybe an OEM, but not for sustainment. Specifically, no US Military.

Your ok with the cost every year. I've got no problems with krown itself, i'm sure their professional. Imo, its just another fee every year if your in the rust belt. I'm cheap, i was brought up different. I don't like paying maintenance fee's every year. I'd rather pay a little more initially for a job that's going to last longer down the road....one, and done. I think thats a problem with the younger generation, their brought up to know no other way.

Idk i was told otherwise by an uncle in the air force that maintained vehicles. This was long ago, so maybe its different now. I can tell you our generals are.

Problem is you're never "one and done". That's the problem with the older generations, they assume and trust shit too much.
