Not the kind of thing you want to do on the regular, especially during break-in period...

I doubt there is any serious damage - when you take it in for the first tire rotation just tell 'em you had to brake hard to avoid a deer or bigfoot or whatever and ask them to take a double peek at the brakes - but most likely nothing is messed up.

And pay no nevermind to the negative reactions this site at the end of the day is the best thing out there -

The locating pins are a very loose fit. They are not a precision fit or part, just an assembly guide at best. If you knock your rear axle, or if you have heavy rear wheel shudder/skipping/axle hop, under extreme braking, you can shift the axle out of alignment.

Interesting. I'm well over 1m miles driving in my lifetime - I've never seen an axle shift due to hard braking. Learned something today.

Mandated after 2007 I believe. Or maybe I'm thinking of side-impact airbags..

I'm 25 and my first car did not have ABS. 2001 Toyota Celica GT. Fully loaded. Power everything, leather, AC, CD player, keyless with alarm, but no ABS. Still think it's funny where the priorities were. Learning how to keep it out of the ditch on icy mornings at age 16 was pivotal.
Or to find out if the fold-down back seat was fully latched.

Sure there were, but there were significantly less per miles driven. And I do mean significant...25% of car accidents are caused by people playing with their phones. That's an extra 1.6 million accidents a year, and the reason why car insurance rates have spiked the last 10 years. Studies have also shown that people texting and driving are more than twice as likely to cause an accident than someone drinking and driving.

But yeah, there were accidents before cell phones.

This is something that happened to a friend of mine when he had an emergency stop. He had lift blocks, so maybe that exacerbated the situation. I dunno how prevalent it is.

Damaging the truck from braking hard, not a chance. Damaging the truck from braking hard and hitting something, every time.

This ranks up there with some of the most ignorant comments ever posted on TW.
