One thing you do got going for PA is the lack of front license plate requirement.

    :amen:

When we moved from Virginia to Pennsylvania in 2005 and registered the cars here, my dad realized that they look a hell of a better without a front license plate...

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I'm sorry for your loss Charlie. I'm sure you'll do fine with your speech.

    My condolences.

Well, considering that my truck already has the holes drilled, I’ll take lack of yearly inspection over front license plate lol

    Sorry for your loss.

@PennSilverTaco, I usually to the bar for a drink every year to honor a friend of mine who passed away about a year later after someone shot him.

I had the truck backed into the driveway last night, so I didn't need to back out of the driveway this morning when I went to Jim's service. It turns out that I forgot to plug the backup camera back in when I put everything back together, and I discovered this when leaving the funeral home to go to lunch with Jim and Helen's family...

My backup camera is now operational again, but as you can see doesn't always work that well. Luckily, my friend is helping me replace it next month...

So, as some of you know, there was an issue with getting Jim interred at the veterans' cemetery in Newtown because he was considered a reservist. That ended up not being an issue, because some guys from the local VFW and two Navy sailors came to the funeral home! As you can see in the pictures, there was a rifle volley, and the two sailors folded up the flag and presented it to Helen. The spent rounds that were fired in Jim's honor were also presented to Helen. It was a beautiful service, and I ended up my speech with a remark about Jim was likely looking down on us right at that very moment as he enjoyed a cold beer with Meat Loaf, Queen Elizabeth, and Ronald Reagan. The whole room erupted in laughter, and I was getting compliments about my speech for the rest of the time I was with Jim and Helen's family!

Jim's ashes will be scattered at a number of places that meant a lot to him, so even though bureaucratic bullshit kept him from being interred at the veterans' cemetery, it all worked out in the end. :)

Also, it turns out that this funeral home actually arranged the rifle salute and other military honors, and this is apparently required by law for honorably discharged veterans; I looked it up on the funeral home's website...

That's is great news Charlie. It worked out in the end. Bet you're glad you spoke...sounded like a good service to celebrate the life of Jim.

    And it's actually a custom van show, as in "Don't come a-knocking if this van's a-rocking" :D

It is technically not open to the general public, and only people with a van or who know somebody can get in; I fall into the second category...

Well that's right up your alley then. If you ever get married and have kids...I can see you having the "van lyfe"
