Hello, I'm hearing a vary strange nose when driving (gurgling or bubbly sound). I have a 1999 tacoma with 3.4 v6 and an automatic transmission. The noise become very apparent when RPMs hit 2k. I have reason to believe its something in the transmission-(When Transmission is in neutral, no noise is noticeable at same RPMs) Im wonder if any ones else is/has experienced this sound.
note -Torque converter has no of symptoms failure (gears slipping, hard shifting or hesitating on shifting)

    -Sorry about the loud tires
To pin point the sound in the vid you can hear it at around the 4 sec mark to about 12sec before it disappears.

Lol the only gurgling sound I hear are your tires. Other then that something rattling. If you pick up the rear tires does it still make the sound might be able to pin point what it is. Can check exhaust brackets, belts and pulleys.

Assuming the roar & whine are just noisy off-road tires, there's also a loud 'throbbing' sound that could be a defective tire or noisy axle or wheel bearing.

Only gurgling I ever heard in the past, not on a tacoma which doesn't matter, was on my cooling system, mine was a head gasket on a old chebby.

yes it kinda like that noise but a bit more mechanical... if that makes sense. It's hard noise to describe, it sounds a lot more bubbly in person than that vid. Nothing is leaking and all fluids are at a good level. To pin point the sound in the vid you can hear it at around the 4 sec mark to about 12sec before it disappears.

I believe that "throbbing" noise is just the M/T tires, but I will check the bearings later today.

No I don’t think so, the sound is heard in the cab and sounds like it’s coming from in front of the vehicle

1: no air cabin filter on 1st gens, 2 sound is not noticeable when transmission is disengaged(neutral) AC is belt driven of engine. So theoretical if it was the AC, I would hear it when its in park or neutral

    thanks for suggestion
