Which lift should I install ?

I’ve been looking into installing a lift on my truck, I want 2-3 inches in the front and 1 inch in the back , just enough to fit 275 or 285 on some trd pro wheels what do you guys recommend?

 

How much are you willing to spend?

 

Something that’s not cheap but I also don’t really do much off roading but I don’t want to just go with blocks in the front

 

I'm not saying this is THE best option, but this is what I did.

1. TRD Lift Kit: 2" front 1" back. Bilstein 5100s all around
2. Trd T4R Pro wheels 17x7 +4mm offset matte black
3. 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W

285s won't fit with this lift with those wheels without trimming, cutting, new ucas, or other modifications

 

You truck looks bad ass !that’s how I want mine to look ! , how much did the total parts a labor cost for the Trd lift ? I was looking into it but some dealers charge over 1000 just to install plus the parts

 

Lift was $2400 out the door. Included the heritage grill, new TSS garnish/sensor, and alignment.

Wheels $660 for x4

Tires $1k for x4

 

I have Bilstein 5100s set on the 4th perch and a 1 inch block, same SEMA Pro Toyota 4Runner wheels but run 265/70/17 Toyo ATs. I was going to run 285s but didn't want the hassle. However I tested my neighbors OEM 4Runner SEMA Pro wheels with his 285 BFGs on the day he installed new wheels and tires. I had no rubbing anywhere, CMC was not needed and I tried going up inclines forward and reverse. I did catch the mud guard once but if anything very little trimming would be needed. I know BFGs run smaller than most companies and 285s are a little wide for a 7 inch rim. I like your set up 275s are the ticket!

 

Take a look at the Eibach Stage 1 or stage 2. Had mine over 2yrs, no regrets.

 

Grasshoppers… No need for the extreme. Don’t destroy your beautiful Tacomas. You can’t out engineer the Toyota engineers.

Do a mild lift. On a TRD Off-Road put one tire size bigger. 1 inch more diameter gives an automatic 1/2 inch radius lift.

Then in front a polyurethane 3/8 top plate spacer. Gives the truck an additional 3/4 in lift. And polyurethane is excellent at absorbing shock. Makes the truck smoother.

And then a 1/2 inch block/shim in the back.

Your truck will look beautiful, stock, but with a little extra…

 

How did you get the wheels for 600 I got quoted 900ish from a dealer for them

 

I think I’ll go with 275 then I don’t want to trim anything right now haha I just bought the truck like 2 weeks ago

Yours looks really nice ! Is the ride the same with the block and the spacer ?

 

We don't know your real objectives, but you can run 255 80 17 or 255 85 16 on OE wheels with no lift, no rub, no cut. Full 33"

Lift doesn't really help tire clearance, wheel fitment plays a bigger role. You'll gain the radius delta between stock and the 33" tire in real lift, as at the axle lines. Suspension lift doesn't add clearance at the axles (the low point).

I went with the Bilstein 6112/5160's. Lifted 2 1/2" front and back. New rear leaf packs. Icon tubular delta joint UCA's. Icon rebound wheels, 17-8.5" 0 offset. Made specifically for the Tacoma for clearance and nitto Terra grappler's in 285/70/17. I have around $5000 in it total. No CMC, no trimming. No rubbing, even with the factory mudflaps on.

 

Yes pretty easy install, i did it solo, it was my 2nd truck with the Eibach. I smartened up and ordered the springs pre-installed on the struts to save time and anxiety of the dreaded spring compressors, cost about $90 more, totally worth it.

 

I agree and works with my budget I bet. what tire size do you have and do you have a link for the spacer you used? Thought about not putting a rear block in too.

 

The TRD lift is sort of pricey. Went that route last week. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't.

 

I want it more for aesthetic then for actual off roading I saw someone use the term “mall Crawler “ that’s what it’s mostly going to be used for ,maybe some light off roading in the future
