So over the past year I've been on the hunt for a clean frame to replace the rusted out frame on my double cab I was given from my father. Many of you on here have responded to my threads as I've researched information on this of which I am every grateful for.

Last weekend I picked up much more than a frame and more than I could have ever expected when I started out on this scavenger hunt. I found a great deal on a same year 02 double cab for $3k. Absolutely clean frame (zero rust), cleaner than pretty much all frames I had looked at buying separately. So for essentially the price of what I would have spent to acquire a frame I got an entire running truck.....minus a known check engine light issue (and now that I have it and have started to tear into it, a prior front left accident/impact) although not overly bad, but annoying I didn't know about it.

I could tell when I bought it the left bumper was pushed up because the headlight/bumper spacing was different on the left side, but I was hoping it was a bent bracket or something minor, but such as life.

I'd be fine with it the way it is, but my OCD makes me want to try to address the issue so that it's not as noticeable. Before I go attempting to straighten things out I wanted to get opinions on

    1. Do I really have a chance to gain much trying to do this myself with "at home" fixes
    2. Will I essentially waste my time without much improvement.

Below are a few side by side pics.

If anyone could post a pic of what a normal bracket looks like I'd appreciate it. The passenger side bracket looks bent, but all the impact was to the drivers side. I'd expect there to be more things bent/malaligned on the passenger side if that bracket is supposed to have 2 straight sides rather than a normal slight bend to it?

Also......I'd be remiss if I didn't include pictures of my frame for your enjoyment/envy

    4 run, 2 don't
That crash bar is removable and not a permanent part of your frame.

As for the body mount, just straighten it out or have it cut out and a new one welded in place.

You can get the core support replaced too.

For the core support....It looks like it's bolted on in a few spots, but also seems to be tack welded (I know that's not the correct terminology, but I'm hoping you understand what I'm describing) to the front clip. Is it as simple as unbolting and putting a new one in?

Most of that can be hammered, pulled or cut and welded to fix.

OP where you at? I'm guessing a salt state? A local member might be able to help, damage doesn't look bad.

That’s the plan. It’s also not my daily so it’ll remain in my driveway and off the salt roads in the winter, except for when I absolutely need to use it

I wish my 04 frame looked that way. Ass end leaves much to be desired lol. I just had to replace the gas tank cross member. Bought the truck in June, but if I had it since new it would look a lot better I know that.

Good stuff. I basically did the same thing in 2019 when I crashed it on the highway. Good luck!

I've only ordered from TPD once or twice. As for the price, seems legit.

I'd say your local parts counter is scammin' or maybe got the part# wrong... :notsure:
