Since you're always taking the Chebby off the pavement looking for that perfect spot for camping you should look into these tires .... Toyo Open Country M/T mud terrain tires . This tire is what I've got on my Tacoma and they have a long lasting tread design that I've noticed very little wear in the six years they've been on my truck or 25k miles

morning boys....slept in again dammit. so much for an early start. at least the camper is all packed, i just gotta drink my coffee, shower and dress and i can be gone

i had duratracs on toy right after they came out. great for traction sucked for keeping balanced - i think i was back at the shop every 2k miles for that.

only about 10k but 8k of that is with the camper
the guys at the tire shops that i talked to seemed to like them - the toyos and falkens are the top two sellers for larger vehicles up here
    i just use sewing pins
sure. the camper makes that super easy to do
    *wine
Toy has the Toyos and he seems to do well with them. thats kinda why theyre high on my list of possibilities. just dont know how they'll compare to being on chebby when he weighs twice as much as toy
i was expecting the camper to affect tire wear, just not as badly as it does. only getting 60% of the guaranteed life on these Big O's is a little disappointing. I know they're good tires - had them both on toy and runner previously and the last set that i had on runner i had around 45K on them
    pics?
not going off pavement too much honestly. the added wight take its toll on the suspension so i cant do anything wild. even "good" dirt roads are 15mph max. the tread on those MT's dont look like theyd be all that great in the snow

I have run the Cooper AT3’s, Michelin LTX’s, and the Toyo Open Country’s on a 96 F250 Diesel. While it never carried a tiny house on its back…it was always filled with a cord + of firewood from early summer to late fall. Around here that means you experience a lot of rain, snow, and mud while traversing forest/logging roads. The Coopers were superior to the Toyo’s in longevity. In fact I think I still had the little nubs on the Cooper’s well into the first year of ownership. Don’t quote me but I think they had a 60k+ warranty. They also outperformed the Toyo’s in the wet slushy snow we get here. Neither tire seemed excited about mud though. Which made for some exciting trips down the mountain while fully loaded. If I had to pick which one had better self cleaning capabilities I would say the Cooper’s probably won that category as well. Both the Toyo and the Cooper braked okay. Wet pavement always meant being cautious especially with a full load. I would get some tire spin when empty especially if going up an incline when wet. Though the Coopers always felt a little more grippy. The Michelins on the other hand were a good tire in the snow and on the road. Good traction on dry, wet, and slushy pavement. They wore really well and were quiet. I want to say they had an 80k mile warranty. Even though they aren’t an aggressive tread they handled the back country well. But…they were expensive. If I still had the truck and needed tires, I would probably go back to the Coopers. It’s a big decision especially with the price of tires nowadays.

As I daily my truck and also like serious off-roading/rock climbing. I maintain two sets of tires, the 285 KO2's on factory Taco rims and a set of 315 SST PROs on DIY beadlocks. Before I got the beadlocks, I wheeled the KO2s everywhere I now take the SST PROs, and they did pretty well except in the mud, which we have plenty of in the South. MTs are great except for the noise and shorter life span compared to ATs. It is a small PITA to swap back and forth, but I think it's worth it for the improved performance in the respective arenas of street vs. mud.

I figured that. Dam temps have dropped like 30° in the am…
Maybe only one or two more times on the boat.
Then gotta prep vehicles and boat for winter..
