Any woodworkers?

I put a clamp on a speed square so I wouldn't have to freehand a bunch of 22.5 degree cuts.

 

I like that. I can do that with a clamp.
I feel safer with both hands on the saw. The one I'm working with is not huge, but its not tiny either.

You will almost absolutely have to have a table saw. When you buy one buy quality. I found a used powermatic 64. I am glad to of owned it, I want a sawstop.

WOW, just snapped a DeWalt 3/8 bit in clear pine. 1/4 push each then snap. Not an overly used bit. WTF

Did it stick the base plate of the drill press?

 

I have also used aluminum angle stock (Lowes Home Depot Ace Hardware) and mounted it to 1/4 masonite (Home Depot Lowes) to successfully cut 8 ft sheets of plywood

Hey all, been a month or two since I’ve made any progress. Ended up having pretty major abdominal surgery at the end of August to remove a tumor (non cancerous at least). But I’ve got an 8” slice from my waist to above my belly button, and I’m not allowed to lift anything for another month or two. Didn’t get the canoe completed before that, but got pretty close. I’ve got two cherry outwales to epoxy on, and varnishing to do. We’ll see if my strength returns before the weather turns cold.

I refurbish and sell bands 6ike that all the time.

An.older (pre 70's) bandsaw is a tank. parts are plentiful since all 14 inch bandsaw are based on this design.

If i were looking for one,I would go check it out in person
watch a video on how to tune a bandsaw up. A bandsaw in great shape is worth all the money if you Re going to actually uxe it.

Judging anything from a picture is like marrying a girl from her tinder profile.

If the guy takes 100 for it. you can expect to replace bands, cooling blocks and beatings.

If you want to save cash and are wling to learn, refurbishing a bandsW isn't difficult, but expect to spend time learning and waiting on parts.

If you want to see what a modrrn bandsaw will get you in the 500 range, go read the reviews. Great sWs once you spend another 300 in upgrades tp make the base sid. important for resawing.

That's pretty much a normal price around here for a good bandsaw. The old deltas really hold their value here. I would Hagle on it though and see what you can get it for. Check the tires for dry rot, and the bearings in the wheels. Might give you some leverage. I have an older delta saw, it's a little newer than that one but it's a great saw! Mine has a riser block. I can't remember what I paid for it because I've had it for so long. When I got it the base was completely rusted, the guy had it in his basement and his dog pissed all over it, man that was nasty. So I stripped it down and sandblasted it, a couple coats of rustoleum machinery gray and it was good as new. I updated the tension spring when I got it. I still run cool blocks in mine and they work fine for me. I put it on a mobile base so I can wheel it out when I want to use it.
