Can I use the canister filters that I have from my 12 with the 4.0?
    Sorry being lazy!
    2018 3.5 now.
I’ve seen where the canister will screw on and replace the element. Not sure it was Toyota’s.
    I should just ask google.

No these are a plastic cartridge style filter. That's another downgrade from 2nd to 3rd gen in my opinion. You can't use the same filter. As far as I'm aware...

Yeah, you just have to hammer it on there a bit so it won't slide off.

Is the question the same "filter element"...or the same "canister socket"? If its the socket, just put it on the canister and see if it fits.

And the rtv silicone. Be sure to use a High-Torque so it can't come loose when mall crawling. ;)

Don't worry about the RTV, just screw it on and wrap the joint with FlexSeal tape.

Canister filters while a slight pain in the ass, it is good way to see if there are any metal fragments floating around in the engine. Old style you have to cut it apart to see.

Pros and cons to both styles.

Ya you can get the baxter, my main issue with it is the 250$ price tag. I can't really justify the expense for what you get.
