    It's the same for many companies; great trade-in offer for the newest phone etc.

    The whole point of it is to stay with your current service provider, and they're really good at doing that when they bind people to agreements such as "yeah your phone was basically free, but in the form of credit for the next 24 months" sort of thing.

    So yes, you pay nothing for it but you have to stay with that service provider for the next XX months to receive the total credit for it.

    I'm still on a Samsung S10, not a single scratch and is plenty fast; I hold onto them as long as possible :laughing:

    And in addendum- my daily driver is now a dumb phone with a built in hotspot. Trying to reduce distractions. I can bring the iPhone when I want and just tether it, otherwise is dumb phone all the way.

    Literally just had to give up my S7 from 4 years ago due to a broken screen. Would've kept it forever if I wasn't an idiot and dropped it in a stupid situation. Went in to the Verizon store and they gave me an $800 credit for a broken, brick piece of shit on trade in. Have an S22 now for, wait for it, $800. Came out not paying a dime for the hardware, but you nailed it. Had to extend the contract for 2 more years.
