I have a ASUS gaming laptop that has a problem with Windows. Would like to know if anyone would be able to help me out.

ASUS ROG Gaming laptop with Windows 10. The Wifi internet driver went out earlier today so I couldnt use Wifi, but it would work with regular ethernet cable. I was not able to load a new Wifi driver so I decided to do a system restore from an earlier date. Well this where it went wrong. After the restore, windows does not load. It goes directly to blue screen. I tried the Windows recovery menu screen to troubleshoot it but it will not allow me to restore from an earlier date or do anything else. I tried to access safe mode with F5 but it just goes back the blue screen that shows the following error:

    Stop code: 0xc000021a

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the help. Im not good with computers so going down the google rabbit hole and reading fixes is frustrating. I cannot do any of the suggestions online. Im unable to do anything in the WindowsRE menu. Nothing will work. I did call a local mobile PC repair shop and they wanted to charge me about $190 to come out and diagnose it. Not sure if I want to go that route. Im going to call it a night and try again tomorrow.

Truth be told I.T. is half googling stuff, half experimenting with the stuff Googled and half turning it off and on again, sometimes that means you too need to be turned off and on again.

There's also explaining things to a duck but that's more advanced...

In short keep at it keep trying, something you could do if you haven't it may be a bit beyond you but clearing the CMOS, to do that on a laptop sometimes you have to partially disassemble the chassis in order to remove the button cell battery although being an Asus rog it may be more accessible.

Something else you can try doing is starting the computer without the hard drive installed, obviously it won't boot but it should give you a different screen then you can try putting the hard drive back in and sometimes that can help the computer reframalate itself.

If I had to take a flying guess it's looking for a file from before you rolled it back but obviously rolling it back that file is not going to be there what that file is I can't tell you that would be up to the restore function but as you said you can't get there yet, I would put the operating system or recovery USB that should have come with your laptop in with the hard drive out and see if you can at least get to the operating installation directory and then potentially put the hard drive in if you can't get to the BIOS screen to change your boot order.

Ding ding, we found the IT guy. What I’ve learned with with IT folks is they typically have two troubleshooting steps:
1.) Reboot it. Didn’t work? Reboot again.
2.) Shucks, idk what to do. Uhh, let’s re-image it. (Lol, I think we need better IT people)

But for OP, was the machine acting weird beyond the wifi issue? Not sure how old the machine is, but there could be a different issue at play here, which manifested via wifi “issues.”

If the thing is truly a paperweight as it sits, could burn an OS (open source such as Ubuntu) to a USB, try to boot from that. If successful without partitioning your HDD, you would lose your W10 install. But this would tell you if any hardware in your machine went bad (if Ubuntu is running properly). Then if you want windows back, run a new install, assuming you can get your hands on the iso.

Thanks for the help from everyone. It looks like Windows was corrupted form the restore. I tried all the instructions for the stop code: 0xc000021a fixes that I could find and nothing would work. Luckily I was able to get some help from a family member who used Windows recovery from a USB drive. So far it is working but I had to start all over again.

    I haven’t owned a PC in 7 years.
But I usually start with the basics.

Curse it, Beat on it, and threaten to throw in out the door.
It’s never worked, but maybe one day? Just Maybe?

How does it not work? The PC is smashed to pieces, forcing you to acquire a shiny new one that wait, this one doesn’t work either :goingcrazy:

    If it involves a persuader, then yes. Many o' times. My persuader (maybe not best tool for fixing a PC);
