What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Yea really got tired of looking at it. I understand it's to protect things but the fact that mold and mildew builds up under it was unacceptable to me. I did the mirrors first and it looked so much better that I did behind the door handles and door edges. I held off on the hood because I knew it was going to be a huge pain in the ass because of its size. Couldn't stand it any longer so bit the bullet. My fingers are still sore from all of the pulling. I think I got most of the sticky residue off yesterday before dark so today its gonna get a good waxing. Spent over 3 hours on the protector removal and getting rid of the sticky residue. I have the protector on my scoop but I have that wrapped with black vinyl so that can wait. I haven't decided about the small piece in from of the rear wheels yet. It doesn't look as bad so may hold off for a bit. I'm sure if you take yours off you'll be happy. The truck just looks so much cleaner now. The hood really looks white now vs the dingy white it was. Supposedly. The heat causes your battery to heat up and lose some of the water out the top. Those batteries are vented to allow for that. That’s probably why all that staining is around the battery area.

 

Mine had protection film around the doors and what not. The dust likes to build up all around it though so it seemed like a bad idea. And I pulled it really early on.

 

Looks great! What color did you go with? I see there are 3 different types of black.

 

Removed my Leer 100XR shell in preparation for my GFC install in a week. I don’t like how much truck looks without a shell….too naked looking. Excited for the GFC!

I had some plates laying around so a bit of velcro and voila. Looks better without the molle panel but I have a molle panel so here we are

Did some winter prep. 3 cans. I know I didn't reach everything. But something is better than nothing.

 

Lots of goo gone and even more rubbing and scrubbing. Two hours worth. It was interesting how some of the clear protection left sticky residue and some didn't. Most of it was half way up on the hood on the passenger side. It was spotty on the rest of the hood. I'm sure I'll find a little more when I go out and wax it today.

 

Changed out the ditch brackets to something a hair beefier / less bouncy.

More importantly, @DownhillDragon upgraded my old tune to the latest and greatest. Righteous dude, that guy. Been looking for excuses to drive it all day.

 

Ok so the output color is not great, kinda greenish coming out of the lens, This more has to do with the fact that I am using OEM led fogs than the film itself. But I have only tested it against the garage door at this point. We will see how they look in the snow and rain while driving at night.

I think I might order another set of these lights to take apart and replace the LED chips in them (I have been doing this to cheap chinese grow lights to make them better for awhile now)

Also it must be the angle, but the truck looks really short since the garage door is so close. Probably the checkers on the floor.

 

I used laminx on my fogs and puddles the puddles looked green, I thought because of the cement color of the truck. I just hated the way the amber looked in the fog position.

 

I might do this...Three cans good enough?
