I'm still dazed & confused from my recent visit to local Toyota dealer! Since my salesman knew less than I did about models & options I will ask you guys. Can I buy a 3.5 V6 in an Access cab 2 wheel drive SR? They say it has to be 4 wheel drive SR5 to get V6. Also are there any options you wish you had gotten & did not? What about options you got that were a waste of money? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum :hattip: Yep, sales folks are pretty uninspiring sometimes.

According to the you build it page you can get a 2WD Access cab V6. MSRP $29,510 with no add ons.

    https://www.toyota.com/configurator/build/step/model/year/2023/series/tacoma/

Also on the Toyota site click on "Shopping Tools" and then "Search Inventory" it will show inventory according to the ZIP code you entered.

Toyota distribution is broken up in zones, if you enter a ZIP code for Chicago, Boston, Cincinnati, etc. you get different results.
There was a map posted here somewhere showing the different zones but I can't find it.

As far as the options go the SR doesn't offer any packages other that 4wd and V6.
You can add any port options yourself post sale for less than dealer cost.
Most folks add the bed mat first thing, great to have and only about $100.

Absolute nonsense, the SR Access Cab can be had as follows:
    • I4 engine 2WD
    • I4 engine 4WD
    • V6 engine 2WD
    • V6 engine 4WD

Long story short, find a different dealership.

Others will probably chime in with more knowledge than me, but you can go to toyota.com and configure the specs you want to see what is possible. However, whatever you configure may not be allocated to specific dealers because you cannot order directly through Toyota. For what it's worth, I have a 2022 Tacoma SR5 V6 DCSB with 2WD.

Keep in mind, for some options you will need to go to a higher trim for the option to be available (like Push To Start).

LOL, Toyota giveth, and Toyota taketh away. My 2022 TRD Sport was just built a week or two back and even though this model generally comes with Push to Start, those of us with three pedals under the dash get reverted to using an old-school key to start our vehicles. :)

Nothing wrong with a key. Makes no sense to me why some can't live without a push start button.

I like not having to push the brake to start my truck.

    Check build thread!
Yes, as long as you aren’t in Canada. Canada gets 4x4 only.

My comments were more tongue in cheek than anything else; I prefer having to use a key, as it turns out, Tacomas with keys are harder to steal.

In my truck, I'll need to push the clutch to start it. :)

They don’t have a clutch start cancel?

Yup, either push the button or push the clutch; the Clutch Start Cancel only works once per push (at least that's how it worked on other Tacomas I've driven).

My must have was 4x4 due to our winters. Something I do not regret getting!

    Good luck Gary

There’s no reason to have a truck without 4WD.

    My 2 cents.

Get an SR5, V6 4x4, With technology package. Blind spot monitoring and LDA are very helpful features, for me at least. Also use the fogs quite often

    My 3 cents adjusted for inflation: SR5 - V6 - 4WD - Access Cab
