Hmm, so today I turned on LDA, and on any of the three settings of sensitivity, there is no alarm when I tried crossing over the line. My wife's Subaru detects lane egress very well. I couldn't get the truck to trigger a warning. I also did not see a green symbol on the cluster indicating it was enabled when in the info display in the middle of the console, it's turned on.

    Oh no!

How might someone with the function who has it enabled suggest I test the function. I'm not sure I can even do that if the function doesn't show enabled on the cluster with the green icon.

Tomorrow, I'll take a look and see if I even have the camera which should be behind the rear view mirror.

Drive down a road with lines on both sides. Drift. You’re welcome.

Go to the screen on your dash with the cruise and LDA tab. It will tell you if its on and show you graphics.

You need a clear road with well painted lines, just graze the outside ditch line to test it. Has to be over 50kph, 30mph?

Tacomas have one of the worst LDA's I've worked on, which I prefer, I dont care for LDA at all. The tacoma looks too far forward. It's even worse when you lift the truck.

You have to be going at least 35mph...that's what the system tells me.

I have the DRCC turned on at highway speed and turn on the LDA button.

The way I test it is easy...

Direct your vehicle to the right crossing the lane line until you hear the beep. (Make sure your stereo isn't on too loud)

Repeat for the opposite side...making sure there is no one round you when you do this...

There is a little green indicator that shows it's on. That's step one.

Step two, achieve a speed above 35 mph.

Step three, exit your lane like an asshole.

    You simplified this quite easily.

I gotta admit that I like the Tacomas LDA. It just beeps. The worst ones are the ones that try to fight you whenever you drift. I find those to be both a pain in the ass and downright dangerous when navigating through construction zones.

My Mazda vibrates the steering wheel. While it's nice and I still like it, I prefer the beep. :anonymous:

The only place where it got annoying was through a series of curves when I was climbing out of death valley. I was pulling a trailer and purposefully shaving the lines a bit because of that. After a few minutes the coffee cup popped up and told me that I suck at driving. Well maybe I do suck, but don't tell me what to do, truck.

With LDA turned on, is the green indicator illuminated only when above 35? Wow, I'm sure I was doing near 55 at the time. :censored:
    Will try again tomorrow.

So I put a stiff anti-sway bar in the rear, and front tower strut brace in my wife's Outback because I wasn't pleased with the driving dynamics of the car. That greatly improved things. It's no Audi, but that's a good thing. Now on twisty windy roads, I get close to the line on the right and the alert goes off in the Subaru, and I find it's kind of ticking me off come to think of it.

I just want to make sure the truck has what it is supposed to, and that it works as intended / designed. o_O

If it works, I'm likely to shut it off and leave it that way. :D

The indicator should be on whenever LDA is turned on. It should default to on whenever you start the truck. Make sure this is on before you take it out of park.

OMG...the button is on the steering wheel. I press the button as I am driving...like I do for DRCC when I'm on highway roads.

By any chance are you looking at the Adaptive cruise control settings?

That distance selection is also on the steering wheel. You can select the depth difference even as you drive.

Correct, but lane departure settings are only found in the head unit. When OP said "3 settings" I'm thinking he's confusing those 3 settings with Adaptive Cruise Control :notsure:

    Check build thread!
Doesn't default to on, at least on my 2021. Defaults to whatever last known setting was. Which for me is always off. Lol.

OMG - you win the prize! How crazy to have a couple of interfaces on the Multi-function display, one telling you it's on and allowing you to adjust sensitivity (but it isn't really on - I think just enabled) and another telling you it's off.

    Bad usability engineering. Bad!

And then to actually turn it on, you have to use the button on the steering wheel... What an idiot I am. Back under my rock I go...

It will make a really annoying beeping sound if it’s on so you can’t miss it. It’s the bottom button on the steering wheel don’t confuse it with the cruise control button that’s what I did at first
