It's like I said; I've found I had to lower both significantly for vertical up pieces done for testing.

But then, I've also been given "parameters" to use for a weld test before, both at one job application as well as school. The basis of it is to be able to perform the test using those settings.

I learned quickly a few times to adjust my movement speed significantly to make it work.

Point being? You move faster, use less wire, thus increasing efficiency and using less consumables.

I didn't like it, but it was a requirement multiple times at school. Thinking back at it, it was really good practice albeit frustrating.

I'm guessing that is whats going on here, but why its that way isn't being explained. "Do this, you're not allowed adjust the machine" is different than "Do this, don't adjust the machine because I want you to learn X, Y and Z." Hopefully we can just get through this midterm and get more informative instruction going forward.

    @0xDEADBEEF

It's really sounding like the stuff your girl is learning is what I had to learn at school...utilizing some of the same methods even.

    If so, that is awesome.

I say this because I really did learn a shit ton at my welding school, and apply a lot of it every single day I weld.

Yeah it's like good initiative but horrible execution.

But I do hope how I explained it helps.

Only reason why I know that is because I too questioned it (when other students didn't). Was surprised to have one employer "set the machine" for me whereas others allowed me to adjust as needed.

Yeah I think there is a method to the madness here, but it isn't being explained so it just come across poorly and is frustrating. I know my girlfriend likes to ask questions, and asks good ones, but there's a miss somewhere between her (and some of the other students) and the instructor.

I guess if the entire class has shitty uphill welds, we'll know why

I keep hearing that Icons like to leak so it's like, do you want self-rust proofing shocks or shocks that maintain their fluid levels?

Honestly I’ve had nothing buck luck with icons. Fox we’ve had horrible luck with corrosion out here. ADS and kings I don’t see a lot. But the few that I do, people are happy

I've blown one icon on the 02, but I think they're pretty short, specially with the alcans

    fronts are fine

I've only heard issues about 2.5 coilovers, nothing about 2.0 smoothies.

Also the top has broken off on a few as well, some design flaw on earlier versions.

Pretty sure they'll fit my LC that's all, and the lengths are ideal. Would be nice to have a backup set but if you're going to use them on the 2nd Gen, I won't try to convince you otherwise

Ahh that's why the Icon or Fox dilemma

Fox uses a better oil in their shocks? Better than King I've read. Can't remember exactly but there are tons of threads on the subject.

I will say I loved how they felt on a specific member's 2nd Gen that was running Icon front and rear.
