No, not yet. I was hoping to avoid that, as their prices are usually high. But I may not have much choice in the matter. If I can't get some sort of cross-reference to another manufacturer's part that is available. I don't want to just blindly order parts and hope they fit correctly.

Since the issue you are having is the threads being stripped, any chance you could just measure the jackshaft bolt and replace that? Jackshaft has to be a standard size, right? Sounds like the spindle is not broken, unless I have missed something.

    That is stupid

On another note, when I was looking for a bush hog my brother talked me out of buying a Kodiak brand, he said where you going to get parts for it when you need them?

I bought a used Woods, I can order anything I need off the web.

Food for thought for the future :D

I'm not 100% sure what the Jackshaft is, but I'm assuming you are referring to the spindle itself? From the diagram I think it's a single piece going all the way through the whole assembly.

Generally a jack shaft does not have a blade attached to it.
Think of it as a spindle that has only a pulley that drives a belt that spins the spindles with a blade attached.

I hope this makes sense, it's the best way I can describe it.

Jackshaft is the "bolt" part of the spindle. The bade attaches at one end and a pulley attaches at the other. It runs through the spindle housing itself and rides on the bearings.

My original thought was you could simply replace that if the jackshaft itself is available. If it has a part number, google that and see what turns up. The part you have circled is the Jackshaft.

Here is a pic of one.

Can you elaborate on this, because every riding mower and mower deck I have ever seen has a blade on one end and a pulley on the other.

I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding you, or what. I'm guessing it is a terminology issue.

With mower decks that part is almost always called a spindle (occasionally a quill), if you buy the unit with the bearings and housing pre-assembled it will be called a spindle assembly.

The term Jackshaft is generally used for an intermediate shaft, supported on its own bearings and used for the purpose of gearing up or down.

Interesting. On any I have bought they are called jackshaft spindles and have pulley on one end and blade on the other. Couple of examples.

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/OAKTEN-...-Murray-1001200-492574MA-30-1001046/310095489

    https://www.amazon.com/Murray-1001200MA-Jackshaft-Assembly-Mowers/dp/B0043RTOAI

And the threaded part is simply called a jackshaft screw, or similar.

Anyone know the best method of changing oil and what oil to use in this "sealed lifelong lubed" Tufftorq hydrostatic?

    Hmm...
Perhaps that is Murray terminology. Cub Cadet, Toro, Ford, New Holland & Jacobsen have all called them spindles.

...and yes, I have bought spindles for all of the above...:anonymous:

    :censored: rocks...

I’ve heard of people removing the entire assembly and draining it through the fill hole, if it has one. If not, :notsure:

I mean, if you search on google for jackshaft spindle, other manufacturers show the same thing as I am saying...? Beats me lol.

And if I am honest, I always call those just spindles, not jackshaft spindles. I just know that the bolt through it is called a jackshaft.

    Nothing else makes sense anymore.

Blade Spindles can be jack shafts, but jack shafts usually aren't always blade spindles.

A spindle with 2 pulleys is a jack shaft spindle.

1 pulley is driven from the engine belt and the second pulley drives a belt that winds around all the blade spindles.

I looked for images too, and I found no joy as well.

Pretty sure you have the take the entire transaxle out and turn it upside down to drain the oil. I have a similar trans in my Cub and need to do this service, but really don't want to tear it out or try and source the M1 5w50 oil...

Does your Cub call for the special $$$ Cub Cadet branded hydrostatic oil?
From what I have read there doesn't seem to be a suitable substitute, most fellows who tried ended going to the genuine stuff.

It doesn't even suggest a fluid change, it goes along with the "lifetime" trend thing we got going on in the past 10 years. M1 15w50 or 5w50 has been a pretty good suitable fluid for the K46's.
