Would it be hard to get a stock front bumper?

    few things here and there.
    Hey y’all.

So… I just picked up my 2018, TRD OR DC Friday. I upgraded from a 2013 AC SR5 2WD (sorry if I’m butchering how these titles are supposed to be).

I got a very fair price for the truck, it had one owner and was very very well taken care of.

However, the guy who had it was.. for lack of a better words, an “enthusiast of off-roading”. Though it doesn’t look like he actually went off road, he added some, what I would consider, tasteful mods.

    - Steel front and rear bumper
    - Rigid Industry lights, almost 1800$ in lights alone. With a higher end control panel that is installed inside. Pretty sure this was professionally done.
    - Roof rack
    - Diamondback SE, hard cover, that’s like 1700$ alone
    - Eibach suspension

While I’m digging all the extra stuff.. I kind of want a regular front bumper.

how would I get one? Is it possible to go back to one? Thanks for any insight.

    Really loving this truck!

You should be able to take it back to stock. While adding aftermarket bumpers require cutting up the stock one, they generally don't require structural cutting and use stock mounting points. You can absolutely buy a stock front bumper but you'll need more than just the bumper itself.

You should try to test the waters on finding someone to swap you first. I'm sure there's someone out there with the same color truck who wants that steel bumper.

    Oh look, another mod....
It's very possible, but it will be labor intensive work. To get off the old bumper, prep & paint the new OEM bumper, and then to install it. Of course, you can probably off set some of this financial cost by selling the bumper that came with the truck.

Surely someone on this site with the same colour Taco will wanna swap! You'll also need the black fender flares.

And for the love of god, get some bigger tires. Looks like you skipped leg day with that lift!

Debating whether to make this post or not because we're clear across the country and I won't bother with shipping, but if you want to take a road trip...although for the price of a new one from the pic above you might be better off buying that and having it delivered to your door.

I just upgraded to a real front bumper and bought the R4T bumper caps so I didn't have to cut the factory bumper. It is silver sky metallic and has the factory fog lights and all attachment hardware since I didn't need that (except for the four nuts on each side that bolt it to the actual frame in front but your existing bumper used those also so it doesn't matter.)

No wrecks or crashes, only 9k miles on it, might have a few rock chips here and there I didn't inspect it closely. I also have the factory crush blocks and associated hardware and a few other things from the front of the truck that I removed for the new bumper. Air dam might still be hanging in the garage. The factory grill is hanging on the wall since I upgraded that too, but no "garnish" (oval T-logo radar cover) because I'm using that.

SO....all of this is to say that yes, used factory bumpers and front end parts exist, but finding someone to package them properly and ship is the real problem. Note that you will also need to buy two new/used fender flares since yours were cut as well.

I've got piece number 20 and the (2) number 25s. Took them off at 5k when I installed my winch.

Hey, I know that bumper! Anyhow, I understand completely, not the bumper for everyone. Just watch the buy sell trade. Every once in a while I see someone selling a front bumper on that, Ya may have to get it painted but they are out there.

I think it looks sweet as is OP. But yeah someone might go for a straight trade and it would just be labor and time consuming from there

    Thanks y’all!

I’m half and half on it. I love what they did to it, but part of me would love the front be stock. Also, it’s got 31.7’s so.. 32’s? On it now. What size tires should I get? I’m not even sure what size this lift is haha.

Damn, yours look good! Maybe I’ll just keep it! Lol. Mind if I ask what size tires you have? Now that I understand that my truck skipped leg day, I’m gonna need something bigger lol!

Most likely the previous owner had some aftermarket wheels/tires and put the OEMs back on before trading the truck in. Your truck looks to have a 3" or so lift, and that, accompanied with the more aggressive bumper makes the stock wheels look tiny on the truck. Some wheels with a more aggressive offset (sticking out more) + bigger tires will give you a much better 'look' :)

I’m just glad they left the other 3k worth of add ons haha.

I just measured the center of my tire to my fender is 23 inches. Going to figure out exactly what I am rocking now.

    also, I agree!

Also consider the suspension. It sounds like they did stuff 'by the book', and when you add heavy bumpers you typically upsize the springs to hold the added weight.

You might have heavier duty coils that would result in an uncomfortable harsh ride with the weight removed. Any remnants or signs of a winch being in the bumper at one time? It may already be down on weight from what it was meant to have.

post a pic of the front and rear suspension and someone here can usually tell you right away how much lift and what kit you have.

I did not even think about that!

I don’t see any wiring, or specifics that would indicate having one there. (Scuffs, etc). It’s still possible. They certainly went name brand on everything. Nothing looks half assed, that’s for sure. I think I’m going to just keep it how it is, with bigger tires. Last thing I want to do is mess anything up. Going to have this thing many years to come.

rides realllllly good! Makes my 2nd Gen feel like it was riding on blown shocks. Which.. to be fair.. it probably was. Lol

The bumper will look 100 times better if you replace that ugly grille.
