Isn’t it a shame. Ford used to make a pretty good truck. Then like everyone else, they stopped making trucks for people who use them for work and targeted the family buyer, which is a much larger market. That’s why the single cab is almost nonexistent.

I looked into a Maverick, but one with the options I want costs a lot more than the $20K base price Ford brags about. Plus, it's a Ford...

I’ll bet a ford truck forum would not be anything like it is here. We get the occasional argument but nothing like I’ve seen in other forums. Plus you’d miss us all.

I do not agree with your refusal to look back at previous actions. Doing a bunch of stop and go (for doordash in your case) is not good for a vehicle.

As a vehicle ages, things break. While the truck with a new frame and presumably head gasket can run for many more miles, the more wear and tear, the more other things will break.

Not telling you to stop doordashing, but do yourself a favor and weigh the pros and cons before you subject your high mileage vehicle to a task usually done in newer vehicles.

I'm not doing DoorDash in the truck ever again.

I'd heard about guns being pulled at a Thanksgiving dinner over a Ford vs. Chevy argument, and someone was actually shot...

Also, I haven't done DoorDash regularly since 2021 and stopped doing it altogether when gas topped $4 per gallon.

Buy a Ridgeline. I’m not kidding either.
I would own one. I’ve driven one a lot. Unless you do heavy off-road it is all most people would need. I don’t own one because my truck is paid for, and it’s old enough that I don’t really care if it gets dings and scuffs. I’ve never cared what other people thought, so bash it all you want. I mean, I owned and drove a Geo Metro. So yeah, I could care less what others think.

I refuse to buy a used vehicle at today's prices, and base price on a new Ridgeline is almost $40K. If anything else happens to the Tacoma this year, I might just sell it and buy Helen's (I'm not saying publicly what Helen offered it to me for, but it's cheap).

You think I should buy my late friend Jim's 2017 Ridgeline? I technically can't afford it right now, but selling my truck would cover a good chunk of Helen's asking price and my dad would help with the rest so I won't be making payments at 5% APR...

You know guys. I am not a guy that is all about charity and we all know Charlie would never ask for it but why the hell don’t we all just throw in some money and buy Charlie a new Tacoma? Seems there are more than enough of us on this forum to make that happen. We could call it the keep Charlie out of a Ridgeline go fund me. Might go a long way in keeping the majority of us out of hell!

The only reasons I'd buy that Ridgeline is because it belonged to a recently deceased friend and the price is right. Point taken though. How about we buy Charlie new head gasket?

I mean if Helen is offering a deal, as @TnShooter pointed out, the Ridgeline is a great vehicle. Assuming it’s low miles and well taken care of, if the gap from selling your Taco to the purchase price is reasonable, I think it might be a good move.

Your truck is RWD and a single cab. You gain a large amount of space with the Ridgeline, and it will be better in bad weather.

Plus it will remind you of your friend.

Lol, I’m down. All I am saying is if the members that are online right now all pitch in $6 that’s about $40,000. Could easily be done.

Or put a 4.0L in my truck, which likely be cheaper than a new truck; I could use the extra grunt...

40K miles, very well taken care of, heated seats...

It has one accident on its record that wasn't Jim's fault because somebody rear-ended him. My truck has three accidents on its record that were my fault, so...

Well, Charlie I think you are a worthy cause. You should create a go fund me with tier 1 being a new head gasket. Tier 2 being the Ridgeline and tier 3 being a new truck. As a whole I think we could make something good happen for you buddy.
