I am hoping someone can drop some knowledge. My truck is a 2001 TRD SR5 V6 4WD stick shift - I may have a huge expensive problem....

My truck's back tires (or axle? or...) lock up when I attempt to drive forward out of a parked position. Last week it was the worst it's ever been. Whole truck shakes as it attempts to drive.
Do I have a RR diff leak? Lots of fluid splattered around when I look under the truck...

    I'm worried.

    I'm sure someone does.

    That's good.

Now you need to tell us what you need help with. Your thread title may be a hint, but it's too vague for anything but wild guessing.

Your parking brake is probably seized some where.

start with the pivot point under the drivers door and work your way back. Could be something in the drums too

Hey thanks for all the quick reply's.

I was planning on taking my car into a mechanic here in socal, should I go to a Toyota dealership to be safe? Even though it might be more expensive?

Sounds like you have a bad axle bearing seal and the rear brake shoes are oil soaked from it leaking in the drum area =1000-1500 dealership,
Typically this happens because the axle vent valve is stuck closed and the pressure blows out the seal.
The vent valve gets rusted shut or stuck from dirt, it’s a 5.00 part on top of the axle.
Typically the drum will be cover with oil if it’s a seal leaking on the back side

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
FYI most dealer techs would be lost looking at a truck as old as yours!!

@twtruck I took it to my mechanic and determined that my rear breaks were too tight….If I let the truck sit for a few days I notice it more, I’ll need to take it back in…not proud…I noticed it more when I got two new tires…hope this helps, I haven’t really solved it all the way but hope this helps!

@Glamptread , hope you get it sorted out. Mine goes in the shop on Monday, seems like rear drums are sticking intermittently. Just kinda started out of nowhere.

@Glamptread My '01 DC's rear brakes were sticking, locking up similar to yours when putting into drive from parked position and kinda dragging when coasting downhill, like I would slow down instead of gravity accelerating the truck. Turned out to be the Load Sensing Valve (some people call it the Proportioning Valve).
    Hope you figured your out.
