If anyone was feeling froggy about a strandberg, now is the time. %20 off any model (I think) in charcoal black. I have had my NX prog 7 for about a year and am willing to part with literally any material possession (except real property) before it. My "charcoal black" has a fantastic green tint that was. A pleasant surprise when I picked it up. It is definitely not black or gray.

There were two acoustics I felt were missing from my wall; a full mahogany, and a 12 fret.

So I guess I can consider this 522ce a two for one special and mission accomplished, lol.

I have been pining for a mahogany Taylor for so long - and that one with the subtle burst is gorgeous! Love the grand concert size with the slotted tuners - super classy.

I would imagine the mahogany body would help subdue to the bright top end the Taylors can have. I have a few and end up putting on phosphor bronze strings to tone down the high end chime. Super jealous

The mahogany definitely adds warmth to the tone; being a 12 fret with the bridge lower in the body helps as well. Very well balanced, very warm, and this guitar has the best bass tone I've experienced from an Acoustic. It's very deep sounding, but not boomy at all.

I didn't even know Taylor did slotted headstocks. That's sick as hell.

The 12fret variations have slotted headstocks. They look awesome, but are slightly more challenging for string changes, lol.

Never have changed a 12. Doesn't look like a quick process.

Anyone with recs for a small camping guitar that can withstand these heat waves? I have a Taylor mini GS that I love but worried about leaving in the canopy in 100 degree heat. Thinking about a carbon acoustic or plastic mini electric…

A carbon acoustic would be the ideal solution. Me, I use a big baby Taylor as my camping/campfire acoustic.

I have had to talk myself out of a mini GS every time I pick one up. Great player and killer sound! It will be a little pricey and environmentally sensiitve. Martin's backpacker is good enough for camping and not too expensive. there will be no accolades for tone, and they have terrible neck dive, but they sound much bigger than they look. I have (2) one got stepped on and broken by the maid when I was in a hotel in San Diego. total loss. got another eventually......

For my outdoor playing, I just opted for decent but used and cheap - I had a friend who bought something basic he intended to learn to play, but after 15 years and barely touching it, he opted to get rid of it. $100 netted me a late 70s or early 80s Sigma (Martin's production series brand, made in Japan). It's proven to be a real trooper, stays in tune exceptionally well in all manner of weather. If something does happen to it at this point, it only cost me $100, and I've been using it for over a decade at this point. For the price of a carbon one, I could just as easily get a handful of used ones to get me through.

a martin LXME made out of hpl...they are discoed but I'm sure reverb has them... similar to Ed Sheerans guitar but has a HPL top back and sides.
Its my travel guitar. Enya makes a cheap full sized acoustic out of HPL the X1 but the quality is hit or miss....

EDIT: pretty sure an LXM is just the non electric version as the E designated electric

By the by, seeing that nice Martin interior label, if any of you are in or passing through the northeast, a tour of Martin's headquarters in Nazareth, PA is worth the trip. There's a museum in the front, and their production facilities in the back. A fun couple of hours for any player.

Guild P240 Parlor is a good little travel guitar.
That would be good to see. Still have not bought a Martin. I've played them. Great tone!

Sounds like you need a Taylor GS5! They're discontinued and tough to find "fairly priced" right now, but when I scooped mine up years ago, I bought it for $1k even. Its identical to a friends $3k custom Taylor build.

lol - my wife would divorce me. I currently have a Taylor Big Baby (2012), Taylor GT Urban Ash (2020), and a Talyor 314ce (2011). Need to drop one to get a different one, but each has a perfect use in my playing (not taking into account my 2001 Guild F30R).

I fairly recently sold off all the music gear I owned, and only kept my drumset, Taylor GS5e (rare edge burst top), and Martin 000-15m. Besides not having any electric gear anymore, I haven't found anything those 2 acoustics can't do for me, besides bash outdoors camping lol. But I've got my kiddos mini sized guitar for that!

Kind of works with the inlays...
Probably look better if it was oriented 90° counter-clockwise.
Honestly, looks like something from a Nightwish album cover.
