They're my favorite symphonic metal band; definitely worth checking out. I'd stick to stuff released after 2013 though.
Since you're an acoustic guy, here's an acoustic version of one of their songs by two of their members.

I'm doing it again. Just found myself looking at guitars and pondering why I don't have a single coil yet. Then G&L's website was in front of me. I got to much shit already God help me.

So… I’m barely learning to play the guitar. It’s kind of difficult but I never ever had played any musical instrument ever in my life. But I am trying. Month 2 of learning and hopefully I don’t quit. Just need to spend more time on practicing a lot.

I took it up at age 54. Never played in my life. Still taking lessons (just turned 57). I gotta admit it was a grind at first but now I'm having fun. R u starting acoustic or electric

That's how this one recently happened; at the moment I have one with single coils (G&L Skyhawk) and one with mini humbuckers (one-off custom heritage), suddenly found myself without a regular humbucker guitar - I'm missing a picture of the back at the moment (korina back and 3 piece korina/mahogony neck); not sure what seymour duncan pickups are in it, will pull and take a peak when it's due for a string change; but they are on the hot side.

It can take a bit to get used to it and start building some muscle memory; but well worth the journey if you can stick it out.

What helped me along was splitting time between learning and doing drills; and then just finding easy to play songs or riffs that I could pick up quickly. Just always remember to take it nice and slow at first. Got to learn to play it slow before you can play it at speed.

    Good luck!

I find myself just wanting to go fast all the time but I started taking lessons and my younger instructor is helping me with drills and slowing me down.

I've always liked G&L's, great guitars; the skyhawk I've been a little back and forth with though. It's a great playing guitar, but kind of heavy (for a strat style), and I have a tough time falling in love with the MFD pickups. I'm likely going to end up selling it and going back to a G&L Legacy for my single coil fix.

I have a G&L SB-2 bass that has been my workhorse for decades. P/J style. Crazy output! Plays great!

This is a dream come true! After getting my tax return last spring and discussing with my then girlfriend, now fiance, what I was going to do with it, I said "probably just save it since we have projects for the house." She replied with "isn't there a guitar you'd want?"

"Of course, but this is Wildwood money..."

With a grin she said "well this is probably the last time you'll get to spend it on something like this, so you should do it."

    What a woman!

We went over and I played a Setzer Hotrod and a flame top Chet to make sure I really wanted a 6120, big surprise I loved them both but they were a little outta reach. I put down a deposit on an Azure Metallic 6120 but it has gotten delayed time and time again (the latest estimate of Feb 2022, initial estimate of June 2021). I looked at their stock and they had two of them in the classic orange, so having a choice was really nice. This one had more "snap" so it came home!

So far, it does exactly what a Gretsch should, especially through my '69 Super Reverb. The pickup heights needs to be adjusted, the B is particularly loud compared to the wound strings, but that's a rainy day tinkering task for this fall. I've been bad about rehearsing lately but my fingers came to life on this thing, I surprised myself!
