I was also planning on being in the office today so I made sure to get the first appointment.

Should have known something was up when it was at the 60-90 min mark, only to tell me the welding news and that it would be at least another 2 hours. Thankfully my wife was able to pick me up and Ill work from home.

Already behind a couple hours behind on a short work week. Off for a week and a half starting Thursday. Wooo, cant wait, its been forever since I took some time off.

Well I’m pretty sure the carrier drop will solve the slight vibration. Both the transfer case and pumpkin are almost at the same angle. Switching the blocks would not leave the the end angles equal. Isn’t equal angles what we strive for?

equal angles are what you are looking for yes, but when you add the carrier bearing drop, it shortens up the angle from the carrier bearing. By turning the blocks around, so the higher side is in the rear and the lower side is in the front, it tilts your yoke to the pumpkin up instead of down like we installed it. This would have been the way I would have I set it up if you had the carrier bearing drop at the time of install. I will send you a picture in a pm of an example of what I mean.

No need. I’ll switch em if the problem remains after the carrier drop. But I think it’ll be fine. Mainly because the lift wasn’t that extreme to begin with.

Yes. But the 2 piece will act like a one piece after the drop. Like I said it should be fine.
My question is how bad would the vibrations of been if we did the lift the “right” way. Then did the carrier drop. Or would the truck have been undrivable ?

every truck is going to be different and with spacer blocks with angles built in.....it might now be the right angle for your truck. Vibes can be common with our trucks but literally every one truck is different. This is why they have 1, 2, 3, and 4 degree shims when people add either an AAL or new leaf springs.

I think we’ll be fine. 1) it’s not a huge lift and 2) the install kept the angles right to accommodate torque on the axle.

The notorious clunk I had from speedbumps and pot holes is gone. Could have been the bound up LCAs, or the washer spacing issue for the lower coilover mounts that @crashngiggles identified and helped fix. Either way that makes me really happy.

Tie rods are next on my list, and a brake job.

Was the "clunk" only from the passenger side?

I think so. At least recently.

I have been chasing down a handful of sounds from the front end the past couple months and they all seem to blend together to me.

Eventually rust wins. Question is what will last longer. Ownership or life.
