Fun fact, the only reason you need a pre-cleaner is if you are using something that has forced induction. You see those in trucks in Australia because those are turbodiesels.

Having been in Australia, I always assume that the main purpose of a snorkel is to raise the air intake on dusty roads, not be used for water crossings.

Update everyone. Just received this new uptop snorkel for testing. It looks to be almost 2x the size of the original. Here are the pics for comparison.
I'll put it on and see how it does w the super charger. I'll take it to dyno also for some numbers. This is for our community to know the deal. Ps. As a reminder, I'm not being paid or anything by uptop. I do these things on my own dime so please don't give me crap. If you are in Virginia and want to see it...let me know.

It would be interesting to take pics from the drivers seat of the before/after of how much that new design obscures the view. When do you plan on installing it?

I just returned mine a couple weeks ago had to pay for shipping but rather do that then eat up $900. It will be interesting see how the “2.0” version is.

Not quite as sleek and sexy as it used to be, huh?:notsure: I’m not in need of a snorkel, other then the fact that it drives me crazy knowing the Taco breathes through the fender wall area. I love the look of this snorkel, but not so much the bigger version. Oh well, if I ever decide to install one, it would be the Dobinsons with the pre-cleaner. From what I’ve read, that seems to be the most effective and affordable route.

I did not notice a difference between the default ARB scoop versus the sy-klone precleaner.

The new version looks uglier than the first. It is as though they just sad fatten it up and forget any aesthetic.

Do you guys think they will be exchanging anyone with the original for free?

Only time will tell! My guess is, nahh. They've probably moved so many units, and continued moving units with known issues/inconsistent data, that doing the "right thing" (if evidence concludes the original is bad) is probably long thrown out the window.

At least from the replies here we have brought awareness to the shady practices of uptop. A good honest company would have halted sales until they fixed it. If we stopped one person from buying this piece of junk then I am happy.

you mean the company that’s running a “15% off racks” sale this weekend only after bumping all their rack prices up another $100?

    ….crazy….

Do you think that the prices will come down $100 after the 15% off sale?

no, I think they’re raising prices to protect margins during business growth and not because of rising costs, yet like many, will most likely use “rising costs” as justification for raising their prices. Every time I think about replacing my bed rack with the full height Truss rack, it costs more than the last time I checked.
