Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

Just because of tie rod contact with the coilover or something else? If I were to go through the trouble of cutting out and mounting it forward a bit I wouldn’t want worse steering geometry. Not sure how it would be worse though.

 

Do you have the slide rack??? That allows you to move the inner tie rod forward.

 

I don’t, but I don’t want to do anything but full hydro. It’s awful not being able to change lines in the rocks.

Tie rod to coilover will become an issue if you can't get it far enough forward. Especially considering a ram will sit higher on the crossmember than a steering rack unless you recess the ram into the crossmember.

It’ll be a balance of what is more difficult, cutting out the cab or moving stuff forward. Probably will just be a lot of both in reality haha

 

I found a few rocks at Hawk Pride this weekend with some Zuks on 40’s. Had to put my “light duty” kit to work. I still don’t know why I even bothered with the bedsides and tail lights.

I like your bedsides, it makes it look like a truck again.

As for the hydro, the pivot kit helps get the additional caster that helps the truck drive better. Youll probably want it if you dont have adjustable upper arms. Also the pivot just reinforces the entire subframe and will help with the added stress of full hydro and 40s.

The ram should fit close to stock steering rack height.

 

I’ve got the 2.25 kit, so no adjustable arms. I didn’t realize how weak the crossmembers are until I crushed that one in a bit. Granted it shattered my butthole when it happened, but still…the front could use some extra beef. Steering is the biggest thing holding me back. Can’t tell you how many times I said “I can’t” to spotters haha

 

Yeah and with the hydro you will hit some shit pretty hard. Ive had to check the truck a few times and make sure my front end was still attached. The pivot kit really helps. I bent my stock pivots before i went hydro and had a bunch of issues swapping control arms.

 

Yeah mine are tweaked a bit on the passenger side. Awful trying to get an arm in there. 40’s or 39 reds sound great, but these 37’s are kicking ass right now so I’m trying to slow down a bit and just upgrade the obvious shit as I go and outgrow. Easy to get carried away especially wheeling with buggies and stuff. I think pivots and hydro will be a huge leap forward

 

Can anyone help me find pictures of the hydro bumps installed. I have searched this thread a ton and can’t find all the pictures Harry posted if the initial installs.

 

I have officially decided to pull the trigger on caging my truck and doing 3 PRP's and Harnesses. Plan is to start on it as soon as it's parked for the winter. Pretty excited to have the whole chassis braced up. Just the frame boxing I did made a massive improvement. The cage should finish it off!

 

Is that a freebleed secondary? Might be some hidden tubes but ive noticed some have the bypass tube above on the compression side like this. My rears have it below with the reservoir. I guess either way its just bypassing the main piston. Just trying to get a better understanding

 

I think JD just oriented them up for ease of adjustment after learning downwards wasn't ideal. I can Adjust mine right through the wheel openings nice and easy facing up. Down would suck.

How do you know your bypasses are working if you can’t hear them?

Not gonna lie, I never understood the bypass noise complaint until this year. Average build with coil over up front and bypass out back, shouldn’t have any complaints. Heck I’d even guess a front bypass wouldn’t be too bad. But, start tying them all into a cab cage, that’s when I’ll allow some complaints lol. My truck is easily 5x louder inside the cab with bypass noise this year with tying in the bed cage to the cab cage and adding the front bypasses tied into the engine cage.
